New in-state offer: 2026 WR Jaquan Stennis
This is way far out, but Michigan offered 2026 in-state wide receiver Jaquan Stennis a couple days ago. Considering he's still in eighth grade, I don't know much about the kid or where he will end up going to high school. However, he's supposedly already 6'6" and could very well choose a basketball career instead, as he's already on the national radar in basketball recruiting.
By my count this is at least 10 players Michigan has offered for 2026 already, which is probably the biggest group of early offers I've seen Michigan hand out over the years. Remember a few years ago when it was a big deal that Dante Moore earned an offer from Michigan before he even got to high school, and now Michigan seems to be making that a more regular habit.
6’6” in 8th grade?? There’s no way he ends up being a WR in college. Maybe a 6’10” TE?
Like a lot of basketball players, maybe his parents held him back a year or two to let his body develop more. Maybe he's a 17-year-old 8th grader who is about done growing.
I'm assuming by the hyperbole (17 when he'd actually be 14/15) this is a joke. Parents don't really do this sort of thing, do they?
I could easily believe 15.i don't know how a parent would get away with holding a kid back 4 years. But I'm sure some would try

Yeah, I was joking.
I had the same thought. I was picturing something like this:

Alternately, remember Matt Trannon from MSU? He was high-profile basketball player from Flint who topped out pretty early and switched to football because it's hard playing the post at 6'5" / 6'6". (It was probably assumed that he'd continue growing.) He was still good enough at basketball to play at MSU in the football off-season. You could tell that he'd played a lot of hoops.
Could be done growing too though. I stopped at 11. Thought I was going to be 6’5” but stopped at 5’10”. Bodies are weird.
not necesarily. i was 6'1" in 8th grade and was done growing. my sister topped out at 5'9" in 5th grade. he could just be early to the game, or 18 yrs old in the 8th grade like i was...jk
By the time he’s finished growing, we may have to recruit him as a goalpost.
So if he grew 6” this year in four years he’ll be 8’6”. By the time he graduates he’ll be 10’6”. How tall are goal posts?
TACOPANTS!!
He's legacy... Tacopants.
it was a big deal that Dante Moore earned an offer from Michigan before he even got to high school
Which doesn't seem to have given Michigan a leg up, ironically.
Yup. The eagerness means nothing.
At 6'8", how is Stennis with his serve and volley?
