New in-state offer: 2023 OL Cole Dellinger
Michigan offered 2023 offensive lineman Cole Dellinger over the weekend. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he's the younger brother of 4-star 2021 offensive tackle Garrett Dellinger from Clarkston.
I know there has been some talk about how hard Michigan is recruiting Dellinger, whether Notre Dame is his leader or not, etc. Take this to mean whatever you want it to mean about Garrett's recruitment, but I think it's noteworthy that they offered his younger brother.
Cole is listed at 6'3" and 235 lbs. He's just in the middle of his freshman year of high school, so there's a lot of time to grow (taller and thicker). I did find some highlights on Maxpreps, but the video wasn't working, so I won't even bother to link.

Good forward-thinking move.

It's worth noting that this isn't M's first offer for that year. According to 247 there are 5 other offers already out:

6' 3" and 235#, high school freshman..... Sweet Jesus!
I can't imagine feeding him and his brother.... my boys weren't big kids and they damn near devoured my way into the poor house when they were teenagers.

Everyone's genes are different, but we had a kid that size as a freshman a few years ago.
He's a freshman in college now and is 6'6", 320.

Not identical twins. They have the same genetics :)

Similar genes. Not exact same though

Last time I bought jeans....there was a pile of them the same size and everything.....so there are quite a few other people walking around with jeans nearly identical to mine......

Honestly not even sure if this is a play to get his older brother. He's huge for a freshman

Does Garret play on the same Line as Rocco Spindler? If so that’s quite a lot of Beef for a HS both would look great in a winged helmet.

Hate Clarkston’s winged helmets. Go Dragons!
January 27th, 2020 at 1:50 PM ^
From one Dragon to another!!! It is such a pickle being a Michigan fanatic and having my boys go the LO. Simply can not bring myself to supporting some of the cheers......
For those that do not know, Lake Orion is Clarkston's rival. The main problem living in LO are the High School colors.....
Completely invert from Michigan and MSU...
Clarkston = Michigan
LO = Ugh....

You go by "OldMaize16" and yet you hate helmets that are copies of Michigan's. Makes sense.
January 27th, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
Its not the fact that Clarkston's helmets are copies of the famed original. It is just the fact that they are worn by a local rival. I see in the thread, there are at least 3 of us that have this problem.
We all love the wing helmet, but for the support of our boys as they go through the LO athletic system. It puts us in a tough spot.....
My oldest played 3 years and had to don the green and white and my youngest is in 7th grade and has played tackle since 4th grade and dons those colors.
My boys are HUGE Michigan fans, but wave the Clarkston helmet / colors (BTW, not EXACTLY the same colors as Michigans) and they go all Waterboy on them.....lol

I'd be all for LO and Clarkston swapping color schemes as well. I hate wearing those colors to support my kids.
January 27th, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
I understand. Fortunate for me, my wife has a Cricut and has made my own LO gear... in BLACK!
January 27th, 2020 at 1:17 PM ^
Yeah...and somehow Clarkston went 3-6 in 2019.

Send that coaches resume to Lansing, maybe he can join the musical chairs game

3 things...
1) Youth on offense....
2) ill timed injuries....
3) a defense that could not stop anyone....

Consensus All-American OG Reggie McKenzie graduated in 1971, and was 6-4, 232 as a senior. In college.
The increase in size of humans over the past half-century has been remarkable.
January 27th, 2020 at 1:22 PM ^
Indeed. Henry Hill, the great Middle Guard, graduated a year earlier checking out at 5' 11", 220 pounds.

Watching old NFL games when the linemen were the size of today's linebackers..... its no wonder that CTE an increasing problem.
When these young men have to 'bulk up' to play line in college and in the NFL, their body is probably carrying 15% to 20% more weight than they normally would, the stress that is put on their hips, knees, ankles, etc.....

Not only in football, but in basketball too. Seems like there are way more 7 footers in the NBA now than there used to be. According to this article is sort of plateaued in 1985+, but look at the 7 footers and 6'3 to 6'6 guys in the last couple of years.

It’s the hormones they put in chicken...damn Frank Perdue and that Tyson fellow

Very true, but the overall size of an average American person is increasing as well. Looking at a Bell curve distribution, if the mean size of humans is taller and heavier, the % of humans in the 6'5" 280 lb range will increase as well.
