The original videos is one of the first things I saw the first time I came to this blog. Thanks for this.

The original hit the mood perfectly. This, like most sequels, was entertaining but just does not have the feel of the first one.
Very much enjoyed and appreciate the effort of the creator.

Toy Story II+
I won't start the Godfather debate
Star Trek Wrath of Khan
Paddington 2
Not sure if "better" but Police Academy 5 tied up so many loose plot ends from the first four movies

You made it to Police Academy 5? Tip of the cap!
January 19th, 2022 at 10:03 AM ^
I was always partial to Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow, myself.

Agree with Toy Story II (Sarah McLachlan's "When She Loved Me" can make grizzled old men cry). The middle movie of a trilogy is typically not as good (or just outright bad) as the first and third. TS II is the exception.
The Fast and Furious movies just kept getting better and better! (...except for the speed bump in F&F 3)

Good call on Star Trek. The first was a mess.

I think because of instead showing a montage of a bunch of shitty plays, it showed the two of the most gut punching plays in Michigan football history. Not a fan of that. And that also caused a slower pace. Same with the good plays: instead of a ton of good plays, we got one play from 2 games and then all the plays from OSU (which we’ve already seen 50 times each at this point). Think if it followed the same sequencing and structure as the original, it would’ve been much better.

The original video turned me on to Rilo Kiley, solid band

I was such a huge indie rock fan prior to discovering mgoblog, and once the original was posted I knew that this place was home.
This new one is like the 3rd or 4th reboot of this video I believe

i envy you who remember events of 2008..... I can't remember what i had for lunch last friday.
or was it Monday? wait, what day is it today?

Embrace it and make shit up. It’s very pleasant.
The video teared me up a bit. What an achievement. What a season.

The mood of the song fit better for 2009 and 2010, when we were just looking for a little happiness in a season full of pain. However, this was very good, and anytime I can see AJ Henning run in the endzone against OSU, I am happy.

Kinda weird it skipped the BTCG.

I kind of hate that song and never want to hear it again. YMMV

Great video, still hurts though to watch the MSU clips.

Both "A Better Son or Daughter" and "Mr. Brightside" suck, and so do the videos using them.
January 19th, 2022 at 10:45 AM ^
Thing is... Mr. Brightside is at its core a song about BPONE, but with paramours instead of football, so it's nothing if not on-brand for the Michigan fanbase.

I'd like to see that original video, is it still available?
I may or may not have seen it years ago. I was a lurker on MGoBlog (only occasionally at first) for a long time until finally joining in November 2010.

The problem: I never want to watch the beginning of this video ever again in my life again.
Otherwise, good job!
January 19th, 2022 at 1:23 PM ^
I hate to be negative about the video but it has a huge flaw:
It goes to color with the JJ-to-Baldwin TD, which fine I guess, but that game was already a blowout versus a mediocre team, BUT THEN GOES BACK TO THE SHITTY GAME VS MSU???? In color!??
Did the person making the video not comprehend the visual theme? What the actual fuck, man?
Eliminate this year's MSU bullshit refshow game from the video. Go to COLOR with the dramatic Erick All TD.
With the song-time saved by eliminating the WMU TD and MSU game clips you can add more from the OSU and Iowa games.

He was following the flow/theme of the original video.
Fade b/w to color during the "sometimes when you're on you're really fucking on" line in the song
Not going back to b/w but showing a low point in the season during the "but the lows are so extreme" line is how the original video was put together.

I loved the original and this new one is amazing. I got chills as soon as the color kicked in and I get chills every time I see the clip of Harbaugh yelling “Go Blue!”
