NCAA Tournaments Open Thread

Earlier: NC State came back and beat a choking Notre Dame and UConn dominated Indiana in the Bridgeport region of the Women's Tournament.

Live: Louisville up 11 at the half against Tennessee.  Winner plays the winner of our game.

Denver is absolutely dominating UMD but UMD bullshit March magic has it 1-1 still.  Winner to Boston.

At 6: Houston and Villanova for the Final Four

At 630: Michigan and South Dakota women

Minnesota State and Notre Dame for a Frozen Four spot.

At 8:49: Duke and Arkansas for the Final Four

Vols close to within 5 at the end of three.  We would prefer they win, dominated them on the road last year to make the Sweet Sixteen while Louisville beat us by 22 earlier this year.

Denver/UMD still tied at 1, second intermission.

As the 'enlightenedbum' mentioned, the Denver vs Minnesota-Duluth game is tied right now 1-1 after two periods.  Televised on the U.

Third period has just begun; winner of this game faces the winner of tomorrow's Michigan vs Quinnipiac game next round in the Frozen Four.

UMD’s goalie, Ryan Fanti, has been red hot for weeks. Denver better on the ice, but UMD stealing games in the net. Not really enthralled with the idea of facing a nigh-unbeatable goalie if Michigan advances tomorrow.

That was the game when nothing went right. Louisville shot well from three, Michigan didn't. Naz was stopped, no one could rebound, turnovers everywhere. It was 39-15 at the half. Not to get ahead of oneself, but it would be interesting to see if KBA could come up with a good plan. Louisville is strong, deep bench, balanced.

It’s certainly our style. They have the highest scoring offense in the country, which is significant reason for concern.

I mean, there isn’t a team in the tournament (especially after all the 1 seeds beat the 4s) that isn’t a concern. It’s the tournament. The teams in it are good.

And Michigan is as dangerous as any of them.

Is Villanova’s defense this good? Both Michigan and Houston can’t buy a bucket vs. these guys. Or are they just getting lucky bad shooting nights from their opposition?

Houston has 29 points halfway through the second half.

Yeah - it’s been a tourney with upsets but we could STILL end up with a Final Four of 3 blue bloods plus Villanova (not a blue blood but definitely modern day new blood).

Personally, no thanks to that.  Boring.

1993 Final Four had 3 blue bloods too plus the Fab Five - that one was anything BUT boring but it was different then.

Arkansas not fouling down 9 with almost a minute left is bizarre. They just quit. Sure the odds were long, but you always foul down three possessions in that situation. I’d be livid if I were an Arkansas fan.

Nobody wants to see UNC, Duke, Kansas or Villanova win it... Let's go, St. Peter's! Spoil the UNC/Duke final four, spoil coach K's final run, spoil it all!  evil laugh
