Multiple night games in 2016?

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

Saw this mentioned in one of the night game threads.

could Michigan have more than one home night game in 2016? the home schedule-

  • Sept 3: Hawaii
  • Sept 10: UCF
  • Sept 17: Colorado
  • Oct 1: Wisconsin
  • Oct 15: Penn State
  • Oct 22: Illinois
  • Nov 5: Maryland
  • Nov. 19: Indiana

would you be in favor of this? the ones that obviously jump out as potential night games are PSU and Wisconsin. Maybe even Colorado?

Wisconsin makes the most sense. We will be coming off a bye week, and Rutgers may make us a night game like they did last year in between those games and in that case we wouldn't play 3 night games in a row.

Wisconsin and Penn State are the obvious two but I don't know if they'll do it because it could cause the Blue Hairs to bitch about getting home late, standing the entire game etc. As for Harbaugh and the team, I think they'd like it because a loud crowd like the three UTL games would lead to a higher chance of winning. We're 3-0 in night games despite going 7-6 and 5-7 two of those seasons.

Why are we so worried about playing multiple night games?

How about us start actually winning games first.

It had us instead of we.. If thats the best s/he has to offer, im kinda scared.. Anyways, psu or wisconsin. Not both, were a big boy school. To reiterate the same arguments, we were a tire fire last year and still top 10 (6, iirc) last year in ratings in college football. We are not oregon or maryland, we dont need gimmicks to be seen by recruits!

Isn't your argument for more night games then? If you think we should "start actually winning games" then shouldn't we schedule an event where we're 3-0 and have a better home atmosphere.

Honestly for me, I have no issue with night games galore once we prove we can wins games and beat our rivals.

I wouldn't be against playing Ohio State at night this year, but I knew the odds were really small so I never thought it was realistic.

To me playing Michigan State at night in 2015 is like Hoke apologizing to them.   Stop catering to them and start kicking their shit talking coach's ass and send him back to his death bed.

How about we kick their ass at home, then do it again in 2016, then play them at night in 2017, unless the Big Ten decides again to make us  play at their dump 2 years in a row.

For me, I don't really care about that. There's always a chance you get smoked at night but it certainly helps your chances in the game. We should be able to beat Penn State and Wisconsin by 2016 anyways. I think the atmosphere with a Harbaugh coached team would make beating a rival much easier at night than at noon.

Right?

Michigan has played in Madison three times in the last 13 years with the last trip coming 6 years ago.

The only positive thing that happened in those meetings was that program record 97 yard TD pass by Mallett to Manningham in 2007.

Forget the year, pretty sure Alvarez was still coaching but watching a UM punt bounce off a Wisky player deep in Wisky territory late in the 4th quarter only to have UM recover to set up a game winning FG was pretty positive (and comedy).

Wisconsin or Penn State would be good ones. If both of those teams are rounding to form in 2016, we could actually have an even-yearned schedule that isn't completely shitty.

That would probably be 3 straight night games that year since Michigan will play at Rutgers on October 8th and they'll most certainly have Michigan at night since they're the biggest East division team to visit RU in even-numbered seasons.

Personally, I believe it will be Wisconsin and PSU. Colorado isn't a Bill McCartney winning program no more. Been in the bottom of the Pac-12 since they've joined.

The reason why whitewater and Mount Union are always in the championship is because both schools offer financial incentives to players when there are no scholarships in division 3.

I'd love Wisconsin, I have a few fond memories of staying up late as a youngin to watch us play late at Camp Randall. That being said, I'd only be okay with UCF or Colorado if they were at Top 25 team, which is unlikely.
