D-1 Swimmer of the Year; Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Year.

"MacNeil receives the prestigious awards on the heels of a history-making performance at last week's NCAA Championships, where she helped the Wolverines finish in sixth place. She established a new NCAA record in the 100-yard butterfly last Friday (March 19), becoming the first woman in history to dip under 49 seconds for the race. MacNeil followed up that performance with a win in the 100-yard freestyle (46.02) on Saturday, becoming the third-fastest performer in history."

She also became the second woman ever to dip under 50 for both the 100 Fly and 100 Back (49.76 leading off the 400 Medley Relay). She is amazing, love watching her swim.

[Regan Smith is the other swimmer under 50 for fly and back]

You can’t imagine how much work it takes to break a world’s record in swimming sprint events. She is a Michigan (and Canadian) Goddess!

As a Michigan alum and a Canadian, I feel . . . gratified?

But mainly impressed by the hard work and sacrifice of Maggie and the other student athletes who do so much to develop their talents, and not only in sports competition. Inspiring.
