Remy Hamilton, Jay Feely and Garrett Rivas were very good, and I understand Ali Haji-Sheikh was excellent as well (I was too young to appreciate him) but Moody might be the best we’ve ever had.  He not only makes every kick but hits it dead center every time.  And he’s got great range.

Ali Haji-Sheikh was at Michigan when I was a student.  When he was in the game for kick-offs, Howard King would say his name like he was sneezing.  He had great range; the accuracy came later.  He had a career in the NFL with the Giants.  One of friends was a Giants fan and he wondered where they got him from and I knew.

I was at his first game.  I remember Howard King announcing his name and the crowd just giving a giant "WTF?"  Let's just say at that point we weren't really expecting a kid of Iranian decent to be on the football team.

Then he just crushed the kickoff. I think it may have gone into the stands.  Everyone loved him from that point on.   Of course, it probably helped that he replaced Bryan Virgil as our kicker, and poor Virgil went 4 for 13 on FG in 1979.  So we were thrilled to have a competent kicker.

My favorite M name of all time.  "Go Sheikh!" always in the stands.  Left foot kicker, I think (not mentioned in the bios) so that was different too.  But Moody is the best of a very good group of field goal kickers over the years.  Robbins is probably the best punter of that very good group too.  Great combo.

Clearly, the stakes for The Game are much higher than just a potential BTCG and CFP berth. The winner of this game gets Lou Groza bragging rights.

Moody is the clear underdog, being matched up against two finalists representing ohio. That's right, one kid plays at ohio state and the other kid is from ohio - some town called "chardon" if that's even a real name.

So Go Blue, Vote Jake, and kick those ohio kids where it hurts. Most especially on Saturday.

Sidenote: one thing I did notice is that the osu kid is 65-for-65 on PATs. That's... a lot of touchdowns.
