Minn-related schadenfreude
Some fine ranting can be found at this site. I like this line: "It's all teh suck, and I can't stop watching. Being a Gopher fan should be an entry in the DSM-IV."

You can tell things are really, really, really bad when the following is true:
A team is just exiting the Brewster era, pretty much the worst in its absolute history.
The new coach is 5 games into his new post trying to tear down and rebuild everything.
The fans have already quit on him 100%.

Watching us play Minnesota today it was painful because I realized that must have been what we looked like in 2008. Feeble, unable to field the talent to actually compete, and basically doomed before the first snap. Watching every game is like swallowing glass, but you keep on chewing because it's your team, damnit.
Unsettling, and I definitely sympathize with their fanbase. That's a team that no amount of coaching is going to get to a decent record this year; they just need more talent and experience. A rough year for Minny fans, and I wish them the best.

I wouldn't call it schadenfreude coming from them. I really do feel pretty bad for them.

I'd like the national media to pay attention to the best trophy game in sport. I think they have some potential and I hope they meet it, and strengthen the B1G in the process.

This would be funny if it was a team that actually believed they had a chance before getting on the field.

.... kerosene.
The meltdown will come tomorrow. Meanwhile, I can't help but laugh at any sparties getting all jacked up about that win.

Seriously, that was the best outcome ww could hope for. It was the worst game of football I've seen in a while. Not one aspect of that game looked good for either team.

Wait until they drop 2 of their next 3 games. Then the fun will really start.

You also know it's bad when Glen Mason is the best thing that has happened to your program in the past 20+ years.

for not being good enough.

the tone and analysis/opinions of the posters are remarkably coherent and sophisticated. Props to MN fans.
Very much unlike the hysterics and neanderthalic discourse of most fan boards (e.g. when I mosey over to OSU or MSU boards and read gems like 'fuck SCUM' or 'DICKRIGUEZ is a joke, amirite?' or 'screw this team, ihate my life and alma mater etc. etc.'

The baby seal is already dead, must you keep clubbing it?

Minnestota- sad. Ohio- Pure joy

I couldn't read it. Minnesota's fanbase is feeling hapless and hopeless right now, and it is not funny in the least - I felt bad for them at the end of the 1st quarter because absolutely nobody on that team looked like they could compete.
The ElevenWarriors schadenfreude, on the other hand, is epic right now. Too many classy (and classless) "Fire Bollman" comments to choose from. Of course, their loss doesn't help us in our division, but...well...it's OSU.

In football anyway. Just like Eastern...couldn't even boo them. Maybe I'll even get some gear.
On a happier note, I understand that the OSU/MSU meeting is going to become a trophy game, with the winner receiving a replica little school bus. So there's that.
