Huge loss for Ohio State's coaching staff.

Big loss. Their D Line was awesome and he was a great recruiter. I also think Urban was a huge fan.
This is like the old 2 player swing in dodgeball after a catch.

I don't know how many times this needs to be discussed. Just because you're on the iPad, doesn't mean you can't up vote. Just use your browser and go to the actual web site.

This wrong I want Ohio and Staee to have the best coaches and players in the world forever because I want to beat the best.
That's sarcasm for those of you keeping score.

I'd figured he'd stay there for a number of years, but he was a recruiting machine for them if my information is correct.

Yes...

But does this mean the return of Jim Heacock?
January 9th, 2014 at 5:48 PM ^
I don't think we'll see him back unless Fickell leaves too.

But from a pretty bad defense. I am a little surprised Luke Fickell is still on staff. I am going to hold off from celebrating until I see who OSU replaces them with. Knowing Ohio State and Urban Meyer, I am guessing the replacement will probably be an upgrade.

Good news by itself, but is this a predecessor to wholesale defensive changes? I kinda liked their current defensive staff as is.

Bosa, Spence, Adolph Washington, Jamal Marcus, Tommy Schutt and Hale.
A very talented group with a ton of upside.
Kind of hard to screw that kind of talent up, but oh look, we've got Mattison so nanner nanner.

Even though Bill O'Brian was an offensive coach for the Patriots, he and Vrabel were both together with the Patriots for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Good move Billy O.

Good point, I thought it was random until you provided the info.

for Urban swiping players from Penn State when the sanctions came down. . .

Michigan picks up an excellent recruiter and Ohio loses an excellent recruiter. I'll take it. 2014!!!

That's two members of Meyer's defensive staff gone now, as Everett Withers left to become the head coach at James Madison. That being said, Vrabel actually came back to Ohio because of his relationship with Fickell, I believe, so now I wonder if this means Fickell is long for this staff. Either way, lots of offseason decisions await Urban Meyer apparently when it comes to defensive coaches. I think a fair number of people had Vrabel pegged as an eventual NFL hire anyway (well, rehire really - he was the LB coach of the Patriots), so this is an interesting development.

Fickel is ohio's fanbase's Borges. They will never forgive him for 2011 and no matter what he does, they'll pounce on every mistake he makes, real or perceived. I don't see why he'd want to stick around in that situation, it's not like he and Urban have a relationship.

by all accounts vrabel was great recruiter and great position coach.....but urbans best recruiter is urban (along with his title rings and questionable morality)....the dudes just a flatout savage on the trail and just as relentless on sideline

So much good news in such a short time . . . implosive in 2014!

Vrabel was one of the recruiters for Malik. Him leaving OSU could help us.

Are there any possibilities that we may be able to steal a defensive recruit or two away from OSU since they were recruited hard by Vrabel who is now gone?

I was hoping that Vrabel had recruited Damon Webb and with his departure we would have a chance at flipping him. Alas, ESPN and 247 both tell me that Kerry Coombs was his recruiter. Sad face.

What about Kyle Berger?
