He previously said the following about Juwan Howard's offer:

“Michigan came in late, so that situation is a little more riskier,” Williams said. “They just came in with a new coaching staff, and I would have to wait until the season starts and watch them play and I just wanted to get it over with before the season and the school year started. I sat down with my family, and we just decided Georgetown was it.”

GTown is having themselves an intriguing season so far. Beat Texas and oSu and then some losses.

Had to kick off 2 of their top 5 players for some weird legal/sexual assault issues. Lets see how long Macclung can keep the Hoyas going with his ridiculous output of late. Ewing will need all of it.

Wow! I just did a deeper dive and Georgetown is dealing with a mini scandal at the moment. Three players accused of burglary and one of them, Josh LeBlanc, threatened the victim. He's off the team. Another one, James Akinjo, is transferring mid-season. I'm reading that Patrick Ewing knew about the shenanigans and allowed everyone to play.

There's a lot of space available. He's an AAU teammate of Hunter Dickinson, a good shooter and could play the 3 or the 4. I don't see any way Juwan wouldn't take Williams.

There was also a note posted on 247 this week that he was talking to Juwan. What signs there are point to Williams committing to Michigan.

Agreed. Considering that Michigan is advocating for position-less basketball, I would see him as a 3 in normal lineup and a 4 in small ball. A class of Jackson-Williams-Todd-Dickinson would be outstanding. Throw in Christopher and that is literally covering every spot from 1-5. And Jace Howard may join as a walk-on too.

The bad news: Jace can't walk on to Michigan because he took an official visit.

The good news: Christopher's father gave a long interview to Sam Webb. Here's a key quote. (Isaiah Todd is I.T. Could the unnamed guy be Williams?)

“I.T. and Josh talk. I don’t know if Zeb and Josh are (connecting), but I think Hunter Dickinson is on that list (of Michigan targets) as well. Kind of interesting. If you look at Zeb, Josh, I.T., Hunter, and I think there’s another guy on that list, they’re starting to put something together really, really special.”

Source?  I can't find any such regulation.  The only thing I've found is that a player can't get a blueshirt offer if they were recruited (financial aid starts with freshman practices).  However, I don't see any restriction on having Jace -- or anybody else -- attend school as a walk-on after receiving an official visit, provided there's no financial aid for the first semester.

Seems kind of odd to basically tell a kid he can’t attend a program and play for said program, even if he wants to pay his own way, simply because the program recruited him hard enough to pay for him to visit, yet didn’t allow him to commit/have space for him.

I've seen it referenced a couple of places, but I'm not certain where. Complete NCAA recruiting rules are very difficult to find. There are a few differences between football and basketball visit rules. I don't think there are blueshirts in basketball. There's no need for them.

So you might be right that a player can take an OV and walk on. On the other hand, I can't recall ever seeing it happen. Since players are only permitted a few OVs, there may be a reason to discourage the practice of schools using them for players they only want as walkons.

I'm ready for another commit for hoops. I just cant believe by now kids are lining up outside Howard's office to commit. Maybe this guy will be the next. Corey Evan's has been saying Hunter Dickinson would commit to Michigan anytime for the last 4 weeks.

You’d think Michigan fans would have learned not to disrespect small North Carolina schools. Not saying they’re a contender, but count which state has the most teams in a NCAA basketball tournament?

That said, Georgetown is going through a messy scandal right now, coming off many seasons of sucking (my theory is overlooking Iverson’s shadiness sent them into a long karma down cycle)

Even though we have Johns and Todd in the fold for the position, he’s an easy take. Not a one and done type, but a 3-4 year player. Let’s get him on board.
