Michigan may or may not have a top 5 class ever. with richrod....

I feel we won't have many top 5 classes with RichRod as head coach. Now I could very well be wrong. I just don't see it. Yes we pulled a top 10 class with the 2009 class despite us going 3-9. I just don't see us doing much better than that even if we start going 10-2 every year. The reason you may ask? Well I think it is mostly with the type of players RichRod recruits. Players that fit our system have different skill sets then players that fit traditional systems. We may have a top 5 class due to the size of the class. I don't see us having a top 5 class due to the star ratings. Now like I said I could be wrong. We could start winning a lot and attract top defensive recruits. It's hard to say, but RichRod seems like he doesn't mind taking players that are considered by some as risky. I think a big reason why this is, is because of Barwis. Now if we do land a top 5 class sometime in the future, I will be the first to say I was wrong. THE WHOLE POINT OF MY POST WAS TO SHOW THAT MICHIGAN RARELY GETS TOP 5 CLASSES. WE ALWAYS HAVE SOLID CLASSES, BUT WE DONT GET TOP TOP CLASSES TOO OFTEN AND I DON'T SEE THAT TREND CHANGING WITH RICHROD.

McFarlin? Isn't he that one 15 year old kid who pretended to be a troll a while back? I think I remember reading some posts a while back about him. Anyways I can assure you I am not McFarlin. But I could care less if someone thought I was.

Honestly, I'm not going to argue with you. It would be too pointless. Any half way smart person would realize that it wasn't his first TRUE class. Those were Lloyd's recruits. RichRod even said himself that he only had about a month to recruit. He couldn't of just dropped the whole class because he wouldn't of had enough time to sign anyone. Do you wanna keep going? You sound stupid right now. And honestly, who did RichRod really sign in 2008 that Lloyd didn't recruit first? Like a 2 star O-linemen?

Players had a chance to jump ship. Ask John Wienke and Christian Wilson. And it's not like the guys we had committed were unwelcome elsewhere. They SIGNED to play for Rich Rodriguez. They only orally committed to Lloyd Carr.

"Yeah...uhh...Mr. Rodriguez. I know you'll be coaching me seven hours a day, and I just want to say that I don't really like you as a coach. But there's a guy named Mr. Carr who might be watching me from the press box on Saturday afternoons that I'll have no interactions with, and I'm coming to play for him."

lol you're being an ass, but I see where you are coming from. I'm not trying to say a recruit stayed ONLY because of Lloyd, but I think he did have a factor in it. McGuffie even said himself that part of the reason he stayed was because of Lloyd and the fact that he thought he owed it to Michigan because he already said he would sign. RichRod didn't really make McGuffie stay. Same with a lot of players.

Still, nobody would have blamed those kids for leaving. There was practically zero backlash against Wienke and Wilson for heading elsewhere. Officially, Rich Rodriguez had been the coach for about two months when they signed. Therefore, that was his first class. Regardless, in YOUR version of his first class, he got a #8 class, so the difference is negligible.

Maybe 2004... I don't know. Considering those sites have only been around for a handful of years, I'd say the sample size for top five classes is pretty small. Regardless, if that's your argument, then it seems like you're challenging MICHIGAN'S ability to get a top five class, not Rodriguez's. The type of athlete Rodriguez recruits is, as I've stated, not any different from what most big-time programs recruit. So perhaps your conclusion is correct, but the avenue you took to reach that conclusion might be somewhat convoluted.

Can someone please wake me up in September when there's something real to discuss? Can we all agree that Rich Rodriguez and his staff know more about recruiting and have watched far more real tape (not YouTube highlights) of these kids than any of us have? Can we reserve all panic attacks on recruiting until February?
