Michigan leads for Ron Tanner

Submitted by Smitty D on
"Michigan is my leader," Tanner said. "First of all, the academics are excellent. It is big-time football in a big-time conference, the Big Ten. I have been to Michigan a few times, and it was a good experience each time I went there. I went to their season opener (vs. Western Michigan) and I went to see them play the Buckeyes." I want to study business or law and Michigan has one of the best business schools in the nation. That definitely stands out." I needed some good news.

OSU hasn't offered yet and it's a long way until signing day 2011. I would love to get him but it's too early to get my hopes up. If you want some good news, Sam Webb says that CB Delonte Hollowell will be committing this weekend to become Michigan's 2nd 2011 class member.

A Hollowell verbal would give us two CBs (Greg Brown) in the class of 2011 which could have limited available scholarships. We already have 4 verbals so far this year at CB plus 3 safeties with a good possibility of adding at least one more. I know our secondary play has been horrible, but so has our LBer play and I'm a little concerned at the lack of attention that position is seeming to get. We need a true MLB recruit and soon (nothing like stating the obvious). I can live with tweeners on the outside so long as they can pursue, cover, and play physical. We are also going to have to get at least 3 on the OL maybe more if we don't land at least 1 more in this class. Throw in some more on the DL especially a true nose and we getting close to half the class barring any more attrition. That being said, I heard nothing but praise for Hollowell's performace at the AA Junior combine, he's from the D and Cass Tech, and we'll welcome him with open arms.

It's the ole "bend by don't break" philosophy. Or "work from the outside in". Bring in a bunch of secondary studs who will ensure no big plays happen (hopefully). Keep the offense on the field making shorter plays - they are bound to make a mistake! At least, that is what I am hoping.

At first I thought we were signing Bog Saget, but then I realized he was Danny Tanner, not Ron Tanner. In all seriousness, the way our secondary has played as of late, I will welcome in as many safety/CB prospects as possible. Hell, I would welcome the Olsen twins if I thought they could be a great CB tandem!

strikes me as the next guy in line. Turner two years back and Cullen this class. Seems like a Michigan man even though he isn't from here. Pretty impressive stats too, I'm all about him.
