Michigan House Decorating Kit

Submitted by Blazefire on
My wife and I moved into our first house late this past November, and I have NO outside decorations for this fall. I need flags, banners, the works. I'm surrounded by Buckeyes! I could do it piecemeal, but I was wondering if anybody knows if there's some sort of a kit or something. Flags, Pennants, Yard Paint for a block M, maybe a pike to impale a Brutus head on. You save money buying it all at once, you know.

I don't know where you could get that all in one package, but to give anything paintable a Wolverine flair, Lowes has genuine university colors. I used them for a cornhole set, and it's about as close to Michigan Maize & Blue that you can get.

you could just buy from different spots, store in your garage, and then put all up in the same afternoon. If you're surrounded by Buckeyes, are you worried that they will mess your stuff/ house up? I probably would be, but I'm a little paranoid.

I live in Temperance, just north of Toledo, Michigan side of the border. Around here, the fan base mix is almost exactly 50%, which means that most everybody has to be pretty civil. Nobody has the upper hand. It probably tilts a little towards Michigan here, and a little towards OSU towards south Toledo. They might have a problem with me putting speakers in my window blaring The Victors on game days, though.

and I've found the best spot to buy house decor is The Anderson's. They've got quite a selection and not to bad on the price. The store on Talmadge and Monroe has a great selection, however I think the store on Ford street in Maumee has a bigger selection.

That was where I was going to head if nothing else came up. There or Buckeye & Wolverine by Tony Packo's. I worked at Andersons on Monroe and Talmadge in lawn and garden for several years (and then at the cafe up front). I'm sometimes hesitant to go in there, because when I worked in the cafe, one day, we could have the too old to sell food items from the case, and then the next day, we couldn't, but nobody told me so they fired me. Worked out good, though. I had a better job (more/better hours, better coworkers, better pay) BEFORE the next day I was scheduled to work anyway!

I'm at my cottage right now and I'm surrounded by Sparties. I'm considering making a stencil with a block M and go blue on it. Then I plan on painting all the large rocks in their yards and along the shore. I might have to wait till fall so I don't end up in jail. It's childish but I'm young enough to get away with it. This would work even better in Buckeyeville.
