Although collegefootballnews.com is affiliated with scout.com, they still put out their own class rankings. Michigan comes in at #9(!) overall with the highest ranking of any Big Ten team. Just thought I'd share. Link? Link. http://cfn.scout.com/2/944854.html

I like our recruiting class, but it doesn't have as many instant impact players like PSU. I'd say we're probably #3, behind PSU and OSU. Still a good class overall for Michigan.

I don't think OSU's class is better than ours. They only have a handful of really standout guys, and a proportionally equal group of lower rater guys. The fact that we have 50% more players in our class puts us ahead. Sure, they have a slightly higher average star rating (to rivals) but that's not that important with classes of widely different size. Consider this: if you have a class of 12 players, all 4 stars, or you have a class of 18, 12 4 stars and 6 3 stars, which is better? FWIW, I did a little math, and both UM and OSU had 44% of their recreuits rated as a 5.6 or below.

Yeah, I saw this and was surprised. I would put ours second behind PSU...OSU doesn't really have any impact players any better than we do, and we filled our holes.

I like what Michigan did better because of the need factor. I think that we will all like this class better than OSU's once the players get out on the field. I also think Michigan passed them on signing day by picking up Dorsey while OSU struck out on pretty much everyone they were trying to sign late. If Henderson signs on their dotted line, it will be close. What I like most of all is that this class will bring RR a lot closer to bringing his vision for UM to fruition. Back to that need factor, you really do have to include it when rating a recruiting class. In other words, how much impact will this class have on this program? I think UM's class will have a more significant impact on their program than OSU's will on theirs.
