Michael Jordon (NTMJ) to Ohio State

Submitted by DrMantisToboggan on

The 4* OT from Plymouth, and probably best player in the state in 2016, just committed to Ohio State. He was thought to be a Michigan lean and Michael and his father had said many times that his recruitment would not be ending anytime soon. This commitment seems both fishy and soft, and I am sure Jim and Staff will continue to hound this kid. He is a very important get not only for his skill set and position, but also to help fend off the growing perception that Michigan does not prioritize players from the state of Michigan, especially kids from the SE portion of the state. Definitely a player to follow, hopefully we can get him back to the good guys.

OSU has beat our beloved Wolverines 12 of the last 14 times they've played. These kids are 16/17 so do the math. In the minds of these recruits, in regards to the product put on the field and players sent to the NFL, we're not even in the same league as OSU. They'll continue to pull top guys from our backyard until we prove we're really going to be elite again. OSU is elite. In fact they're the fricken national champs.

If I have to say something nice about Michigan...I think Ty Isaac will be a beast when he gets his oppertunity, and Jake Ruddock will be very average...which is an improvement.

NSD 2016 is a LONG way away.  I mean, Meyer just had an appendix removed; lord knows what shape he'll be in with Harbaugh's boot up his ass in November.  A long way before this matters.

This is the most ignorant group of people on one site that I have ever seen.  Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, Michigan is losing their top recruits because they haven't been winning? Have you ever thought that Ohio State is pulling in the best talent in the country because they just won a National Championship, lost three games in the last three seasons, and have lost only once to Michigan in the past decade?  The only thing fishy going on at tOSU is that they are winning and are proven winners.  If Harbaugh & CO. wants to land big recruits, they're going to have to win games & beat tOSU. Plain and simple.  Stop complaining about losing recruits.  Stop making excuses that the only team that plays by the recruiting rules is Michigan. IF MICHIGAN WANTS TO LAND BIG TIME RECRUITS, THEY HAVE TO WIN FOOTBALL GAMES!! That's the cold hard truth.  I understand most of you are going to DV this or bash this post, but it's true.  People under the age of 25 can't even remember the last time Michigan was relevent.  It's time to stop day dreaming in La-La land and wake up the hell up

Weber looked at UM, looked at OSU. Then made a choice to go where he WANTED to go. OSU. He didn't try to get out of it, he didn't say he wanted something different. No, he stayed right where he wanted to. That may taste bad to you, but it is what it is. Does anyone think he is wishing he was at UM right now rather than OSU with all those winners sporting all those big fat shiney rings, and being treated like gods everywhere they go ? Mike Weber knew all along who the winners were, and that's what he wanted to be a part of.

I don't think anyone can legitimately say it's OK to not get Michigan / Ohio / Midwest tAlent. Yes, you recruit Florida, Texas and California hard... But that alone won't work for Michigan or OSU or anyone.

Made the right choice for himself. If it wasn't the Bucks it was going to be Sparty. Common sense should tell you that 9 out of 10 top players will not choose a 5-7 team to commit to. They are young, but they are not that stupid. Unlike UM fans, the recruits see each program for what they actually are. In this case OSU is a powerhouse, that is the king of the college football world, and looks like it may stay there for awhile. UM on the other hand is a losing program that just had a 5-7 season and tho it has a new coach, it has proved nothing yet. Until UM can win and win often, it will be very few recruits first choice.

What everyone needs to do is get emotionally prepared for Donnie Corley to follow suit and commit to the Buckeyes next. Cause sure as shit it's going to happen, the writing is on the wall. Can't blame kids for wanting to be winners.

Things have changed in the last couple of years, more and more these kids are spending more time to devellopp relationships with the programs they choose.  Harbaugh has been here for just over 4 months, some coaches have known these kids for 3 years.  So we're starting out way behind for some of these kids.

As for the top 5 in the state?  I hope we can get Kareem because the other 4 look gone.

FWIW, I have Falcon as the #3 player in the state. There are some who think he would be higher ranked by several of the sites if he could stay healthy, so if he stays on the field his senior year, he could move up. He's currently #7 in the Composite ranking.

Somehow, I thought the fact that Hayes was moving back to Michigan might signal a change in his recruitment.

Ultimately, I think we have to trust the coaches. I know that hasn't always been wise counsel, but in Harbaugh's case, I think we have to give him time to do things his way. It worked at Stanford. Granted, that's in California, but it can still work here.

What's so fishy?  MJ came out and said he chose tOSU over MSU and UM because of academics.  He wants to major in International Business while minoring in Chinese, which tOSU offers.  Nothing fishy about that.  But if saying so makes some of you feel better, then so be it.

Michigan Business >>> OSU Business and what is a Chinese major? Do you mean Mandarin or Cantonese? Or a Major in Chinese studies (which I know UM has, since I took a class in the department back in the day).

Just quoting the man directly.  And I think a business major at both schools would be equivalent.  You're learning the same stuff, just because it's one school over another doesn't mean the the answers are different, you're still learning the same stuff.  All goes to how much you apply yourself.  Hell, I graduated with a couple of buisness degrees from UNI and I'd bet I make more (not to toot my own horn) than most UM grads in the same major and Nothern Iowa isn't precieved as "prestigious.".  Not only can tOSU offer him a great education but also dominance on the football field.  Something UM can not.

...then recruits would come. Seriously, you can b**ch and moan about Urban all you want, but c'mon, you aren't even the best team in YOUR OWN STATE! Michigan State is relevant on a national level. The last time UM did that was back in 2006, when you lost to....Yeah, you guessed it.
Losing regularly against the MIGHTY Buckeyes isn't a good look, regardless of how competitive the game. People remember the L's and W's, not that "it was closer than the score indicated".

Plus, let's be honest, UM has been poaching Ohio's best for years now. Did you not think that one day, the tables would be turned?

Win some games this year, go to a bowl game and then maybe, MAYBE you can talk

recruiting battles where the athlete is not one who grew up maize & blue, like Matt Falcon. While we adults appreciate the obvious upgrade in coaching with Jim Harbaugh, et al, the high school kids locally won't be swooned by the change compared to the impact a winning season of 10-3 or better will have on their psyche. Then, and only then will we begin to make real in-roads with our top in-state talent. Oh, and of the 10 victories, one must be against either OSU or MSU.
