The men’s hoops team hosts Rutgers this afternoon - the game tips off at 4:00 pm and will be broadcast on BTN.  The loser is the sole owner of the cellar in the conference.

Sing to the colors that float in the light, hurrah for the pink and white

Hey, whatever works. I still remember when MAAR went off wearing the pink sneakers.

4 quick points to end the half to avoid a first half collapse.  Up by 9.  I think this is a 50-50 proposition.  We'll see how it opens up.

Still too many turnovers, scoring droughts, and listless play. So perhaps this little 4-0 spurt to end the half can propel us to better play in the second half.

I figured out why our defense is atrocious. Reed switches on screens way too easily. Granted, he may be able to guard 1-5, but his teammates can’t. So what you see over and over again is the opponent running pick and roll. Instead of fighting through the screen (that requires effort) Michigan just concedes the switch. So now Reed is guarding the 1, but Dug (or whoever) is guarding Reed’s man. One pass and the opponent has an easy shot in the paint.

When I see John Beilein doing the half time show for the big ten network makes me wish he would come back. First thing he brings up is the 11 turnovers. His teams were usually always one of the nations best in not turning the ball over. Also, his teams did not foul a lot. Both huge stats in winning games.

My thoughts are despite the usual somewhat well played 1st half, the 2nd half is usually not good, that is indicative of bad coaching, lack of strategy to go along with an undisciplined level of play.

11 TO's in the 1st half is par for the course under Juwan. The basketball IQ on this squad is not good. So many stupid mistakes like TO's and screen fouls just to name a couple of things is frustrating.

Clear example of stupid mistakes, Reed turned the ball over I believe because he flubbed the inbounds pass after the last Rutgers basket and they get the ball after the timeout.
