MBB Recruiting: '18 F Demezi Anderson to Indiana (3 UM offerees to Indiana this week)

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

Another UM bball offeree has committed to Indiana - forward Demezi Anderson - who joins Race Thompson and Jerome Hunter in Bloomington. That gives Archie three Beilein targets in as many days. Normally, it's not particularly noteworthy in recruiting, but given the scarcity of offers that Beilein makes I think it is.

Disappointed Hunter went elsewhere, but I think Ignas Brazdeikis is a better prospect than both Anderson and Thompson.

Still really need a wing that can put the ball on the floor and get to the bucket. Not sure who that will be.

A player like Iggy should be added regardless of lineup composition, but just seems odd to add another shooter with limited driving ability (Tyson/Locke) when we've already got Brooks, Poole, Watson, and DeJulius. Need another guy like Matthews - taller wing who can get to the bucket and open things up off the bounce.

Although I think putting Tyson and Locke together is misleading. While Tyson is probably primarily a shooter, I think he's definitely flashed the ability to drive and finish at the rim. (Helps that he's 6'7"ish too). I think Tyson (while a project) has the potential to be able to be a pretty good ballhandler and driver.

Man another kick in the balls. Hunter really hurts. I'm not sure about Anderson but if JB offered he must have shown something.

For the life of me I cannot undertsand why a 4* HS player with NBA aspirations would want to play for another program. Beilein's rrecent ecord developing NBA talent is practically unrivaled. Now it's one thing if you are a "one and done" prospect. But for the rest of the mortal guys out there I just dont see why they would select any school other than Michigan...

mystery but to most everyone in the country who doesn't post here, Michigan is a football school. Mitch talked about it when he committed, he said he was asked why he would go to a football school. Add Beilein's throw back approach and the AAU influence that replaces the high school coach influence, especially with the most talented. It's frustrating and disappointing but I respect the hell out of Beilein and accept that he isn't going to compromise or try to be someone he isn't.

One of our new assistants should be a top-notch recruiter! Demezi was lower down the board, but might've been a decent fall back option if we struck out with our other top targets
