Can't we get some respect?! They put Wisky above us ... Funny how we won the conf championship and all while they didn't. Plus we won head to head. Plus we had similar records. It's not like they have any edges over us. Maybe JB can turn this into a motivational thing.

I know wisconsin has been ranked ahead of us for a few weeks. But it still bothers me. Michigan won head to head decisively. Michigan won share of Big Ten championship. Michigan has better RPI and SOS. Rabble Rabble Rabble

This sounds like me referring to Wisconsin after the 2010 football season.......

In any case, I see no reason why they are ranked ahead of Michigan. They probably pulled ahead at some point and both teams kept winning (they lost @iowa; M lost to Purdue) which became a wash and the rankings were never adjusted. Rankings are MEANINGLESS in CBB.

Have a better resume than Murray St, Baylor and Wisconsin right now. Have proved they can play with OSU, MSU. I don't understand how MSU didn't drop more by losing twice. Marquette stayed top 10 even after getting crushed by Cincy.

I really hope you're kidding. Memphis = Murray State's 2nd best victory (St Marys the 1st) Memphis = our 5th best victory (MSU, OSU, Wisky, Indiana) I actually think both Northwestern victories and Iowa State might be better as well.

Aren't we done with polls?  I was pretty sure this was the last poll of the basketball season since on Sunday afternoon rankings don't matter at all.

Also, this is just a pet peeve of mine but, it's the Coaches Poll - not the ESPN Poll. I suppose if you have to call it ESPN call it the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.  There are 2 polls - Coaches and AP.

puts them at 24 and Michigan is at 12. A quick look at their resumes, tells me that Michigan has a much better resume than Murray St. Sure, Murray St has only 1 loss. What's their SoS again? Oh yeah...

Tired of this idea that Murray St is so much better than certain other teams.

It is getting old thta they are ahead of us- but rankings means much less than seeding- and we have a three seed looking pretty safe so I don't worry too much being behind Wisonsin even though it is stupid

I think part of the reason that Michigan gets no respect in the polls is their grind-it-out style of play and lack of a real superstar (sorry Trey...). Also, thhe chance of an off night of shooting makes Michigan beatable by anyone.

Is this fair? Probably not. But the lack of an exciting style of play and personel has to weigh heavy on some voters minds.

And Wisconsin has an exciting style of play and exciting personel?

Other than Jordan Taylor, they are a much more boring team than we are. And are still ranked above us.

It doesn't matter, I know. But seeing big disparities between rankings and seeding in the tournament just shows you how bad some of the voters are at evaluating the best teams.

Other than the weirdness of being behind Wisconsin in the Coaches Poll, we're basically ranked as high as possible considering our overall record.  And it isn't like Wisconsin is fun to watch or has any players people know outside of Jordan Taylor (again, not exactly a highlight reel guy).

Frankly I think we've been ranked a little higher than expected all year for a team with some of the perceived weaknesses you mention (reliance on the 3, not very big, etc.)

I know Michigan is a good basketball squad, we all do.  It's almost tough to remember sometimes because it doesn't seem like they have, but they do have EIGHT losses.  I probably say switch us with Wisconsin, because of the whole Conf. Champion and head-to-head thing, but otherwise they're where they belong.  Anywhere within 10-13 range is a good spot and quite honestly, like many have said, it doesn't mean sh*t.

I think we remember the Purdue loss more because it was recent and it was at home.  But Purdue is not a bad basketball team (depends on which night you play them it seems) so my head scratcher this year was the Iowa game.  Iowa sucks and we got killed.  I can understand every other loss to some extent but that one still makes zero sense to me.

That's Michigan highest AP ranking--and first time back in the AP top 10--since early January 1997 (when they were ranked 8th).

EDIT: Or if you want to skip any vacated seasons, you'd have to go back to the second week of March 1994, when they were also ranked 8th.

Or, if you want to also ignore the entire Fab Five era--vacated or not--the last time would be early March 1990, and another 8th ranking.

Since Crisler is currently an outdoor arena (due to the walls being ripped out and such), I am guessing it is something that happens early next season.

Hopefully all of this years seniors can come back for the event, but it will be a special night in Crisler for sure.
