MBB News and Quotes

Submitted by Generic MGoBlogger on

It certainly was interesting watching the game last night, and the fact that at one point the five on the floor included Rahk, Chatman, Donnal, Lonergan, and Dakich truly amazes me.  This may not be the year we all expected, but it surely has been intriguing (when not brutally painful).  Anyways, I was just strolling the Twitters and found some interesting quotes from JB that might interest you guys.

In regards to Wisconsin Saturday

"We don't have to beat them 10 times, we just have to beat them once." -- Coach Beilein

Coach says players are feeling better, recovering from illness but "it was very unfortunate to have three or four guys affected by that."

Coach Beilein says that Caris underwent successful surgery today. "We are certainly going to miss him, but we can't cry too long."

Before @MaxBielfeldt hit his big 3 yesterday, Coach drew up the play for him. "Max, can you hit this shot?" "I can make it, coach."

And the one that stuck out to me the most... I sure do love Mr. Dakich

"@daycheck3 came to me and said 'Coach, I don't care if it's one minute the rest of the year, burn the redshirt and let me help the team.'"

PS... If you haven't yet voted for JB in the Infinity Coaches' Charity Challenge, go out and do so http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/infiniti/2015/index?next=home

But a lot of people did not think Harbaugh was coming to Michigan, or 1983 NC State could beat Houston and Phi Slamma Jamma.  Like Coach B said we only need to beat them once.  As Lloyd Christmas said ......."You're telling me there's a chance?"  ...........YES

I wish I had the confidence and/or optimism.  The fact is, with our team this year and said team weakened even further at this point, Wisconsin is a nightmare matchup for us, and should win by 30 (hell, 40 if they kept their foot on the pedal).  It may not end up being that bad as Bo will, agan,  probably have his guys create longer possessions and not really run up the score once out of hand, making it not as ugly.

But it's going to be bad.

As much as this team has been through and undoubtedly will go through this season, it is great to see quotes like that from players. There really is a great atmosphere in that locker room and it seems like they really do feel accountable for one another and want to be up when someone else might be down. It may even lead them to do things we may not expect  - who knows - but it is a trait that makes Beilein's team infinitely interesting.

I am confused.  That clutch 3 occurred after Spike's missed a 3 from the corner, which Max rebounded, kicked out, drifted to the top of the key, got it back and then buried it.  When was this conversation supposed to have taken place?  After Max's rebound, while play was still going? Or perhaps, Beilein scripted Spike's miss, Max's rebound and the eventual make.  That would be genius.

Now Max also hit a 3 in the first half, but it would be hard to call it a "big one"---unless they all are.
