Marcell Ateman commits to Oklahoma State
What are the chances we get hosed and get no WR's or 3*ish mediocre guys and nothing more.

Because most elite WR's make one of the biggest decisions of their lives a year early?
Considering it is May of 2012 for a 2013 commit, I'm not going to fret quite yet.
Remember you are talking about somebody’s “subjective” scouting assessment. Very depandant on intangibles and on “who’s looking at him”. Overnight a kid will go from unrated to 3+ stars because they get offers from several schools. It’s all opinion, and the only opinion I care about is what Hoke & Crew’s. They seem to judge talent well IMHO, and know what they want and how to use what they get wisely.
Look at the 2012 NFL draft and 40% of the top 10 picks were “3 stars” by rivals. Claiborne, Tannehill, Kuechly, and including OkSt’s #1 receiver chosen, Blackmon. (Also the Lions’ 1st choice Riley Rieff went to Iowa as a 3 star as did USC's DeCosta.) Tell me you wouldn't have liked to have any of them.

Is starting to become WR U. They're also starting to pull in some pretty highly rated guys, and it seems they have built themselves into a Big 12 power.
without Wheeden at QB. He might've been responsible for them being a "powerhouse" in the B12 the last couple of years. My guess is they go back to being the Michigan State of the B12.
Oklahoma State has been a pretty powerful offense for the last several seasons, not just when Weeden was there. The difference last year was that their defense was pretty good, too.
So maybe four-star WR season starts about now?
By that reasoning, then, Treadwell should make his decision two weeks into his senior season.
He sure did buy himself a nice football team.
Ok. State has always been pretty good on offense and has had a lot of good wide receivers going at least back to Hart Lee Dykes(maybe further but I'm not an expert). Defense has mainly been their problem and I think it will continue to be as OU and UT tend to suck up all the good defenders in the area.
As far as Michigan's wide receiver recruiting goes, I think it'll sort itself out.

This class of receivers probably didn't grow up on Edwards, Avant, Manningham, Arrington (just to name some 2000's players) catching darts. What they know of Michigan is more "Denard gonna do Denard," at least according to DeAnthony Arnett.
We'll get some high-quality receivers this class, but it may take another 11-win season for the most elite wideouts to feel like Michigan is THE place they want to go. Hoke has already gotten us to a place where top receivers are seriously considering Michigan. We just need to be patient until they start choosing us.
That said, we're still in for a potential Treadwell/Allen/Dukes triumvirate even in this class.

The problem at WR is similar to the problem at D-line... they are positions of need for Michigan, but there isn't much talent in the midwest in either category which means we face an uphill climb in landing kids at either position which is frustrating because we want 2 more at each spot.
Being from Texas, I guess it's not a surprise that Ateman stayed close to home. It's mildly reassuring to see that we still have at least 13 WR offers out. Surely we can get 2 of those guys, right? RIGHT?? There's only 2 still on the board from the midwest (Treadwell, Gladney).
Gladney said that Iowa is leading and Nebraska is also in his top 2. That leaves Treadwell as the lone midwest reciever. Of course things change, so who knows the coaches can get him in for a visit.
If I were a wide receiver in the 2014 recruiting class that is the year I would really look to come to Michigan. You would come in and had Morris with 1 year under his belt. I would look for Michigan to go pretty big next year with top notch receivers.

I'm all right with a couple of three stars who are guys that Hoke likes, but we need to cash in on some of the 4/5 stars because research proves that they do better on average than 3 stars.
It's hard to blame a receiver for wanting to be with a team that passes a lot, and Ateman said as much:

Once Michigan get its passing game ramped up, 4 star receivers will be a lot easier to attract.
