Maize Jerseys w/ Black Socks
Unless I am gravely mistaken, last night was the first time UM has worn black/dark socks with the maize jerseys since the 2013-2014 season, which ended with an Elite 8 appearance. Since that season, the team has inexplicably been wearing white socks/shoes with the maize jerseys; a horrible looking combination matched only by the horrible play of the team.
Michigan comes out in black socks/shoes with the maize jerseys for the first time in two years and they blow out their hated rival by almost 30. Coincidence? Most certainly not. I hope the coaches have learned their lesson.

I like it.

I imagine the players are too distracted by how terrible the white socks look, which results in poor play and shooting. You know that old, grammatically incorrect saying: "Look good, feel good, play good."

I'm not superstitious...but I am a little stitious.

guess is that they will do it the rest of the year regardless of what color uniforms we are wearing. Looking at our schedule, I don't really see any reason we could not wear the maize uniforms for the rest of the season, home and away.

thread hijack - can anyone confirm the rumors out of EL that LJ Scott and some others are off the team due to a to-be-announced run-in with the law? don't see his name in the student directory anymore.

confirmed.
Sources undisclosed and non-existent but totally believable.

from CFP to 3-9 to losing returning starters for non-traditional reasons. YIKES. but also YES
February 8th, 2017 at 10:12 AM ^
But if so, I'll bet 3-9 officers were on the scene.

Have to laugh at poor MSU. After the loss to Michigan, their fanbase was all "Can't wait til we roll into Ann Arbor next year and stomp them, they have to replace their whole team." Then I saw the returning experience rankings and saw MSU was only 3 spots ahead of us. Which was before they lost Lukusa and possibly others, including Reschke and LJ Scott. They're in the same boat as us in terms of replacing starters, but they're doing it with 2 and 3 star guys while we're doing it with 4 and 5 stars. I know recruiting rankings don't always guarantee future performance, but I feel much better about our situation than theirs.

This isn't the first time I've heard rumors about a supposed impending apocalyptic implosion of one of our rivals, and it never happens the way the rumors suggest.
But one can hope—nothing would make me happier than to see that smug, pompous hypocrite Dantonio having it all blow up in his face.

Looks like on 1/18, an MSU insider predicted three members of the team leaving soon. So far Reschke and Lukusa have left. LJ Scott would be #3 if he gone. Others have confirmed he is no longer in the MSU student directory but who knows what that means.

The black pajama pants look better than the white, but they're still stupid. These kids aren't senior citizens who need to wear compression garments for shitty circulation and varicose veins for chrissakes—Glen Rice didn't wear long underwear while setting the NCAA record for most points in the tournament.

Glen Rice wore compression shorts.
February 8th, 2017 at 11:50 AM ^
That was the thing to do in the years just before the Fab Five. Basketball shorts were so short back then that people wore the compression shorts underneath for more upper leg coverage.
Then our equipment manager had the good sense to ask Russell Athletic to add a few inches to the length of the shorts, and the rest is history.

you had to register as a sex offender for indecent exposure if you didn't wear compression shorts in the 80's
February 8th, 2017 at 11:55 AM ^
Correct, and until recently they weren't really 'compression' just better than regular underwear for mobility and staying put. Also feel smoother. Now, they really are compression, extend down to your ankles, have football style padding, etc. Overkill, but hey, the kids like the shit I guess.

What do you call the knee pads Rice is wearing! Theyt extend down to the ankle...
And so now that modern compression shorts are better than old ones, the players SHOULDN'T wear them? I don't get that reasoning... Who cares what they wear and why? I'm guessing it's not 100% to look cool. Whether it makes them more comfortable to dive for a ball. Add security to a knee they injured 4 years ago. Help them jump, shoot. Whatever. Let them wear what they need to.
And realize your heros wore shit that looked bad too.

Yeah, the black socks/shoes are the best complement to the maize uniforms. They work with the blue uniforms as well. I would only wear white shoes/socks with the white uniforms.

Weren't the jerseys and shorts designed to honor the fab five? You would have thought that the team would have worn black shoes and socks earlier if not the whole year.

If players want to wear other shoes & socks, save them for games when the team wears home whites or road blues.
