We nearly won the B1G Tournament. Tied with 1 seed and #8 Indiana 0-0 in 2OT.

Tough break on PKs decided the title though, but still got a result against them.

13 seed and a first round bye.

Michigan (11-4-5) will face either Notre Dame or Wright State on Sunday at U-M Soccer Stadium.

Last year it was reversed: we had to play a first round game to advance to South Bend and face a seeded ND team where we tied but got eliminated on PKs.

Michigan beat ND 1-0 earlier this season for the first ever win at South Bend in program history.

Michigan has had a fantastic season. 4-0 against Ohio State, ND and beat little brother twice! At home for the Big Bear Trophy and at home in the B1G Tournament Quarterfinals to put an end to their season.

Michigan won their first ever B1G Championship under Chaka two years ago but we still haven’t had that NCAA run under him yet.

We have the B1G Offensive Player of the Year in Oakland grad transfer Nebojsa Popovic and 3 other First Team All-B1Gs in senior Englishman Jack Hallahan, Jackson Ragen and injured goalie Andrew Verdi. Verdi—B1G GK of the Year—has been out since October 29 but true freshman Owen Finnerty has amazingly stepped up and provided zero drop off.

Watched that BiG final against IU Sunday. We were great, had chances but couldn't finish, really should've won. The IU keeper made two saves in PK's, stole the show.

But our keeper was great, too. When the announcers said his name (Owen Finnerty), it sounded like O-infinity!

Michigan has gotta win in regulation. In three of their last five single elimination games (Two NCAA games last year, three B1G tourney games), we've gone to penalties twice. Won 11-10 on Pks against Princeton, lost 11-10 vs ND and then lost 4-3 against Indiana this past weekend.

I think college is a great place to experiment with some other options. Not as many rules regarding substitutions. I would be curious what would happen with taking players off the field. 9v9 instead of 11v11. I'm not sure if it would tire players more because they'd have to cover more ground or if it'd lead to more goals with more space being available. I'd like to find out though!

I think that's too close to changing the nature of the game. I'm not in favor of completely altering how the game is played - which is also why I don't like penalties. But there are plenty of experimental things they could do in which a majority of the rules are still enforced.

Isn't the womens soccer team also in the NCAAs?

EDIT:  Yes, they are.  They beat Bowling Green in the first round and play Texas Tech in Chapel Hill on Friday.

Beat me to it. I recorded the women's BTCG against psu, but it cut off with 1 min to go in regulation, so I missed OT.

I watched the 2nd half of the men's match live, so no issues with the recording getting cut off.

Women's next match is Friday @ 3pm ET against 4 seed TTU and will be available on ESPN3. TTU is seeded while we are not.

The winner of this match plays the winner of Colorado vs. #1 UNC. And yup, UNC ladies are a 1 seed. Again.
