M Hockey vs US Under-18 on FSN thread

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Revenge? Revenge.

Last year was the first time Michigan lost to the U-18s. A positive is Tyler Motte & J.T. Compher had a great game, which has continued into their play this year in the Maize and Blue.

Keep an eye out for 2014-15 signee Dylan Larkin. Hopefully he nets a goal and has a good game.

Game will be at 7:05pm on FS Detroit. Expect attendance to be sparse, per people I follow who are at Yost right now.

Most importantly- NO INJURIES!

Thats really frustrating. Completely sleepwalked through the period and paid for it, coupled with Red's confusing decision to put Dwyer in net.

Good thing this game doesn't count for anything

I agree. I get the theory behind putting Dwyer in; he gets some in-game experience that he might not get the rest of the year. I also think the cons outweigh the pros, because now he's given up 3 goals in about 6 minutes of ice time and his confidence is likely shot.

You can pretty much bet, based on his track record, Red is absolutely tearing into these guys at this very second. Paint peeling off the walls-type stuff. Better it happens on December 5th than April 5th.

Pretty obvious the team didn't care all night (it reminded me of last year), the NTDP outskated us all night long and finally got the payoff which was helped along by the goalie switch. Frustrating to see this type of game coming from a mile away and they still all came out like they were more concerned with trying to figure out to hit Skeep's or Jug after the game

Hopefully they learn that you can't just squat and be lazy on a lead even against a bunch of 17 and 18 year old kids

That's not what I wanted to see. That game may not count in the standings, but that was the last game we play until Ferris comes to Yost next Wednesday.

FWIW, the home game against ohio was an OT game.

I'm not saying ferris sucks. I'm saying they shouldn't be ranked where they are.

Their wins are over Colgate, Mercyhurst, St. Lawrence, Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State, Bowling Green, Alaska-Fairbanks and Northern Michigan.

Which one of those wins am I supposed to impressed with? Yeah, they beat up garbage teams. UAH is 0-14-0. ferris and LSSU are the only two teams in the New WCHA that have a winning record. It's a 10-team league.

I get why Red put in Dwyer, but at the same time I was very worried when I saw him skate out to the net.

Michigan is playing a team in the same city, who is basically the equivalent of a full-year Under Armour All-American team. This is the game is what they go all out for.

Mix that with putting a 4th string walkon in net who hasn't seen any game action at all and a Michigan team that was already playing the game at 50% but playing the 3rd perod at 15%.

That won't end well, more times than not.

Officially been kicked in the nuts in football, basketball and hockey all in one week...maybe it's time to take up yoga or something.

The OT goal was really bad by Dwyer...anyone that can even play to the level of 3rd string at UM should have basic goaltending fundamentals down.  Not squaring youself and having your stick on the ice for a shot from the point is stuff that even my 12 year old knows.  He was obviously mental after the first goal but too late to pull him at that point...
