M Hockey vs US Under-18 on FSN thread
Revenge? Revenge.
Last year was the first time Michigan lost to the U-18s. A positive is Tyler Motte & J.T. Compher had a great game, which has continued into their play this year in the Maize and Blue.
Keep an eye out for 2014-15 signee Dylan Larkin. Hopefully he nets a goal and has a good game.
Game will be at 7:05pm on FS Detroit. Expect attendance to be sparse, per people I follow who are at Yost right now.
Most importantly- NO INJURIES!

We're gonna let the US team score and make it a game
December 5th, 2013 at 8:56 PM ^
"Michigan clinging to a two goal lead at home?" I don't think we're clinging.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:01 PM ^
Closer to "Michigan trying to maintain interest in a 2-goal game at home"
December 5th, 2013 at 8:56 PM ^
December 5th, 2013 at 9:05 PM ^
Motte to the box. This isnt over, Michigan needs a kill here.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:10 PM ^
US going on the powerplay though. Itll become a game if they find the net
December 5th, 2013 at 9:10 PM ^
Di Giuseppe to the box. Another big kill.

Dylan Larkin has looked pretty good so far. Probably the 4th or 5th guy who jumps out at me on the NTDP. He's a really quick guy
(Zac Brown. Drink)
December 5th, 2013 at 9:15 PM ^
Seems a wee bit daring to put Dwyer in net in a 2-goal game with 2:30 left and the NTDP on the PP.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:16 PM ^
Luke Dwyer =Drink
December 5th, 2013 at 9:16 PM ^
Di Giuseppe back to the box.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:17 PM ^
Still not sure why Dwyer is in net (though that goal was basically 0% his fault)
December 5th, 2013 at 9:18 PM ^
December 5th, 2013 at 9:18 PM ^
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 5th, 2013 at 9:18 PM ^
god damn it
December 5th, 2013 at 9:18 PM ^
Annnnnnd it's tied. Tuning in late here and I have yet to see UMich posses the puck.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:18 PM ^
Holy crap.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:18 PM ^
Why is Luke Dwyer out there. Bad decision by Red
December 5th, 2013 at 9:20 PM ^
Michigan looks like they don't care.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:20 PM ^
Serves the team right for being totally brain dead this period. Still can't believe we allowed a 2-goal lead to be choked away in 30 seconds
December 5th, 2013 at 9:21 PM ^
overtime
December 5th, 2013 at 9:21 PM ^
Well that escalated quickly.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:22 PM ^
December 5th, 2013 at 9:22 PM ^
Thats really frustrating. Completely sleepwalked through the period and paid for it, coupled with Red's confusing decision to put Dwyer in net.
Good thing this game doesn't count for anything
December 5th, 2013 at 9:23 PM ^
I hate when teams don't take exhibitions seriously. Every time you play, you have to give maximum effort.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:28 PM ^
unacceptable effort
December 5th, 2013 at 9:28 PM ^
USA 5
Michigan 4
Final - OT
December 5th, 2013 at 9:28 PM ^
That does it - 3 straight goals...
December 5th, 2013 at 9:28 PM ^
December 5th, 2013 at 9:29 PM ^
Awesome. Thats a fantastic choke-job. You could tell the team didn't care all night
And seriously, why in the world was Luke Dwyer in net.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:32 PM ^
I can't come up with anything other than jokes about the Dwyer situation which means:
1. I agree with the confusion
2. This must be some sort of a defense mechanism
December 5th, 2013 at 9:29 PM ^
What in the hell... I go do something else for like five minutes, and this happens?
December 5th, 2013 at 9:32 PM ^
Two minutes left in the game, Red pulled Nagelvoort for Luke Dwyer.
I get why you do it, but it's the same reason why you don't do it. Dwyer has never played before. Three goals later they win.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:35 PM ^
I agree. I get the theory behind putting Dwyer in; he gets some in-game experience that he might not get the rest of the year. I also think the cons outweigh the pros, because now he's given up 3 goals in about 6 minutes of ice time and his confidence is likely shot.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:29 PM ^
Whatever. It technically doesn't matter.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:30 PM ^
That didn't go how we planned.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:31 PM ^
I'm ready for 10 straight ZBB commercials after the last 5 minutes of what I just watched...
December 5th, 2013 at 9:33 PM ^
Hope the boys are ready to skate until they vomit next practice or whenever Red punishes them for the effort
December 5th, 2013 at 9:33 PM ^
You can pretty much bet, based on his track record, Red is absolutely tearing into these guys at this very second. Paint peeling off the walls-type stuff. Better it happens on December 5th than April 5th.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:35 PM ^
I do not understand the Dwyer thing at all. We win this game easily with Nagelvort
December 5th, 2013 at 9:35 PM ^
I feel bad for Dwyer. His teammates let him down in his first game action of his career.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:37 PM ^
Pretty obvious the team didn't care all night (it reminded me of last year), the NTDP outskated us all night long and finally got the payoff which was helped along by the goalie switch. Frustrating to see this type of game coming from a mile away and they still all came out like they were more concerned with trying to figure out to hit Skeep's or Jug after the game
Hopefully they learn that you can't just squat and be lazy on a lead even against a bunch of 17 and 18 year old kids
December 5th, 2013 at 9:44 PM ^
That's not what I wanted to see. That game may not count in the standings, but that was the last game we play until Ferris comes to Yost next Wednesday.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:49 PM ^
ferris does not scare me whatsoever.
They're just beating up all the leftovers from the old WCHA & CCHA.
December 5th, 2013 at 10:02 PM ^
I'm not going to underestimate Ferris when we needed two overtimes to survive Ohio State. This was supposed to be a tuneup.
December 5th, 2013 at 10:10 PM ^
FWIW, the home game against ohio was an OT game.
I'm not saying ferris sucks. I'm saying they shouldn't be ranked where they are.
Their wins are over Colgate, Mercyhurst, St. Lawrence, Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State, Bowling Green, Alaska-Fairbanks and Northern Michigan.
Which one of those wins am I supposed to impressed with? Yeah, they beat up garbage teams. UAH is 0-14-0. ferris and LSSU are the only two teams in the New WCHA that have a winning record. It's a 10-team league.
December 5th, 2013 at 10:02 PM ^
I'm not sure of what to make of them yet, but if we play as braindead against them as we did tonight we'll lose
December 5th, 2013 at 9:55 PM ^
I get why Red put in Dwyer, but at the same time I was very worried when I saw him skate out to the net.
Michigan is playing a team in the same city, who is basically the equivalent of a full-year Under Armour All-American team. This is the game is what they go all out for.
Mix that with putting a 4th string walkon in net who hasn't seen any game action at all and a Michigan team that was already playing the game at 50% but playing the 3rd perod at 15%.
That won't end well, more times than not.
December 5th, 2013 at 9:58 PM ^
Officially been kicked in the nuts in football, basketball and hockey all in one week...maybe it's time to take up yoga or something.
The OT goal was really bad by Dwyer...anyone that can even play to the level of 3rd string at UM should have basic goaltending fundamentals down. Not squaring youself and having your stick on the ice for a shot from the point is stuff that even my 12 year old knows. He was obviously mental after the first goal but too late to pull him at that point...
