Liberty bowl to be decided by targeting call
After coming back from 25 down in 2nd half Kansas is looking to convert the 2XP in the 2nd OT to move on to the 3rd OT. Kansas QB was stoned on the goalline in what appeared to be the game winning stop but hit in the head. And the call is confirmed!!! Replay 2XP. 53-51

Well they still have to run a 2pt play.

Bad call, as was the "fumble" call.
December 28th, 2022 at 9:46 PM ^
No, that was textbook targeting. Crown of the helmet to the helmet of the Kansas QB.
The fumble was a bad call

That horrible fumble call is the only reason this game is still going. Kansas should never have even had any of these chances to be in this. It was clearly not a fumble.
December 28th, 2022 at 9:49 PM ^
The fumble call was in the fourth quarter. The refs allowed the ground to cause a fumble and were too weak to overrule themselves on replay.

Ya not just 4th Q, like 3 minutes left in the game. Arkansas would have had a new set of downs with a 15 point lead and in FG range. It completely changed everything about the game.
December 28th, 2022 at 9:51 PM ^
Or Arkansas could have tried to recover the onside kick
December 28th, 2022 at 9:47 PM ^
Only if Kansas wins but they converted the 2 after the penalty was walked off and now in 3 OT

Jayhawks hit their big TE for the conversion to tie Arkansas again. 3rd OT coming up.

The last two hours of this game have been sicko fan nirvana…

That’s my Halloween costume every year. Not sure why I still wear it because I can’t reach the candy or hug any of the numerous sexy witches in our neighborhood.

Kansas couldn't convert in the third OT so Arkansas won 55-53 and neither the fumble nor the targeting affected the outcome of the game.
December 28th, 2022 at 9:52 PM ^
Horrible pass, didn't give anybody a chance to catch it.
December 28th, 2022 at 9:54 PM ^
I think he could've run it in. You could tell he was thinking throw first though by how tentatively he was running.
December 28th, 2022 at 10:17 PM ^
Looked to me that the moment was so big that he couldn’t process quickly enough. He could have bulled his way into the end zone. He could have thrown to the wide open receiver to his left. But instead he threw five feet over the head of a covered receiver directly in front of him. Things just sped up too much. Feel sorry for the kid.
December 28th, 2022 at 9:55 PM ^
And he had another guy wide open, but asking a WR to make that play is ridiculous when your QB has passed for over 500 yards.
Dance with who brought you.

I turned this off when Arkansas was leading 31-7. Guess defense is optional in these games

That game was amazing. Nice to see Power 5 teams can still play an entertaining bowl game.

UNC Oregon would like a word.

Bowl games don't matter / old man yells at cloud takes are the worst. These games are so much fun, especially mid-week

A player should never be ejected for a non-malicious action.
December 28th, 2022 at 11:26 PM ^
Head down missile with the crown of the helmet. Cumong man. Thats dangerous for him as well and it cant happen. Heads up young players.
December 29th, 2022 at 12:02 AM ^
The problem with that logic is twofold: 1) that there is no recourse for how the players move in space - the tackler is often not "leading with the head" when they first become airborne (read any of Brian's "ban baseball slides" rants for a good example) and 2) it puts (almost always) inadvertent and unintentional contact as a more egregious violation than most "malicious" actions.
Well intended rule (player safety), but poorly conceived and horrendously punished.

I agree with most of what you are saying. I also dont like replay. You cant judge a player at 1/28th the speed he was moving. He didnt make the play in slow motion dont judge him in slow motion.

Is anyone else watching Lane kiffen imploding????

You hate to see it, but its very entertaining.
December 29th, 2022 at 11:22 AM ^
Not me, I absolutely love to see it. One of the sleaziest cheatingest mercenary scumbags in amateur sports falling on his face brings me so much joy.
December 28th, 2022 at 11:49 PM ^
Some dubious non-holding calls for the Kansas OL - the refs missed some two arms around the waist grabs and hugs.
December 29th, 2022 at 12:09 AM ^
In the end it was not. But a cheap call, since the defender was aiming for the mid section of the KS QB but the QB got wrapped up by his legs and was falling down as the defender was going for the hit.
December 29th, 2022 at 3:16 AM ^
Kansas last 2 point play pass was a microcosm of every relationship I've had.It surprised the defense, had multiple promising options but in the end it was thrown away.

I’ll never understand why people think penalties shouldn’t be called at certain times in a game. If it’s a penalty, it’s a penalty.
December 29th, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
That targeting call was soft compared to the last KU player that was targeted.
