Lewis, Chesson, Peppers named B1G Players of the Week
A trio of B1G weekly awards this week.
Jabrill Peppers was named B1G Freshman of the Week, Michigan's 3rd ever.
Jourdan Lewis was named B1G Defensive Player of the Week, the first Michigan defensive back to receive this honor since Leon Hall in 2005.
Jehu Chesson was named B1G Special Teams Player of the Week, the first non-kicker Wolverine to receive the honor since Darryl Stonum in 2009 after he returned a kickoff against Notre Dame for a TD.

Heh, I wonder if Spielman still thinks Ben Braden is the only one on our roster that could start for OSU

I usually wish he does the Michigan games. He is probably my favorite commentator.

Couldn't agree more!
October 12th, 2015 at 9:42 PM ^
Eh, not sure if that's a proper description of him.
October 12th, 2015 at 6:08 PM ^
He better than Millen!

So are you...me, the pope and elmo.

To be fair he was only talking about the offense, but I think they'd take our whole defense and defensive coaching staff over their defense that gave up 28 to Maryland.

Cool.
We've only had three freshman of the week winners ever?
October 12th, 2015 at 5:47 PM ^
That's shocking considering Mike Hart and Chad Henne's freshman campaigns.

That one was established in 2010, as opposed to the Offensive & Defensive ones in 1987 and special teams in 1994.

Makes sense. I was even going to say Tate could have won a couple of those.

When is the last time we figured that heavily in the B1G Player Of The Week honors? It has to be a while, but I could be wrong. Either way, it is fun to see a few Wolverines get rewarded for some fantastic performances.
Hopefully, we get to see such honors a couple more times this season.

Congrats to all three of them fine young men. Go Blue!

The Harbaugh tide raises all boats!

Man, it's been 10 years since a Michigan DB was Defensive Player of the Week? Yikes.
October 12th, 2015 at 6:16 PM ^
Leon Hall was named DPOW after a fumble recovery for a TD against Northwestern.

Another cool nugget in that story:
Michigan leads the nation with 39.0 yards per kickoff return.
Baxter is the man. We are awesome at everything in special teams. Our kicker has made 7-9, our punter routinely pins them inside the 10, our coverage units are phenomenal and we're a threat to take it to the house on both punts and kickoffs.
October 12th, 2015 at 6:30 PM ^
Well, considering the fact that nobody ever scores on Michigan, the sample size for kickoff returns is pretty small.
October 12th, 2015 at 7:04 PM ^
As much as I like watching Peppers and Chesson with the ball, I'm good with it remaining a small sample size.
October 12th, 2015 at 8:06 PM ^
Exactly.

My father in law is a nw alum and couldn't believe they kicked to chesson at all. He asked how he'd done on his other returns. I said it wax his first one . Averaging 96.0 per return.

And that's the crazy thing - they were trying to avoid kicking to Peppers!
October 12th, 2015 at 8:27 PM ^
Will Likely try not to kick to either Peppers or Chesson.
October 12th, 2015 at 9:54 PM ^
True, now I understand why teams are choosing not to score on us. They are afraid of having to kickoff!
October 12th, 2015 at 8:42 PM ^
Awesome. They deserve it. Go Blue! Let us have three more this week.
