Being from Dayton and watching many flyers games and playing high school basketball tournament games there, I would be thrilled to see this. Osu never wants to play Cincy or Dayton. They continue to duck good teams in the non Conference. Go Blue and Go Flyers!

Sorry cant go there with you.  Come tournament time it's "B1G Uber Alles" until somebody plays Michigan.

Go Blue (And Huskers and Spartans and Badgers and Bucks)!

There's an Izzo promises to not complain about injuries or refs article in the paper today...and then he makes a preemptive ref whine.  I'd link to it, but fuck Izzo.  The only thing I want to read about him is how excited he is for the 2014-15 team to take the court with weird guys and a pack of gum.

Sparty bball is like ohio football for me. Never, ever, ever, under no circumstances do I ever root for sparty bball to win. NEVER. This years unwarranted slobberfest just makes it that much more intense.

Same for me, especially since their entire fanbases are rooting HARD against Michigan at every opportunity.  I'm past the point in my life where I can root for Ohio or MSU under any circumstances.

Them aside, I'd like to see Nebrasketball and Wisco do well, along with Michigan of course.  Iowa was a huge letdown last night, but that blown lead was a microcosm of their whole season, wrapped into 20 minutes.

But it's not meaningless.  Take a look a the SEC in football - one of the key reasons they have dominated the media landscape is their united front in advancing the concept that SEC football is better than anyone else.  The "SEC, SEC" chant is heard at all bowl games and it's resonates everywhere.

Look - I hate MSU as much as anybody so if anybody has to lose I hope it's them.  But I do root for all the B1G teams as it helps MY team's RPI, strength of schedule and every other metric when we beat them.

You meant you COULDN'T care less, but I know see what you're saying and agree with you. Fellow conference teams don't do anything good for Michigan except make it harder to win the title if in fact they were to meet somewhere in the tournament.

Nope. It's not the same as it is with football. The Big Ten is the best conference in the country, so we want all Big Ten teams to lose so Michigan avoids playing them. When it comes to the tournament, no one gives a shit about strength of schedule or schedule prestige. We want the easiest road possible to get to the title game.

You're right, of course - the Buckeyes more than likely do not flub this game, although they are not the runaway favorite in a lot of simulations. If the stumble early, it's probably against Syracuse, and indeed, I went Syracuse in that matchup in all but one of the pools in which I am participating, as I recall (I don't have them all in front of me). The one where I had them upsetting Syracuse is the one I let my son draw Power Rangers on.

One of my best friends from college grew up in Miamisburg (just south of Dayton) and claims that Dayton is his number one team, even though he's a huge oh*o fan too. I bet he loves this matchup. One of his teams is guaranteed a heartbreaking loss. Awesome.

Also, in any sport, I will never, under any circumstances, root for oh*o or msu. Not gonna happen. Not saying anyone is a bad fan if they do, but I simply can't bring myself to do it, and won't attempt to force something that's so unnatural.

the BIGGEST reason that differentiates sparty from ohio in basketball is Izzo.  I can't stand either fanbase, but Matta as a human being and coach I am okay with when compared to Izzo.  Just can't stand the man.  I'll be okay with ohio winning a few games, as long as they lose when my bracket says they should.
