It's great to be where we are in college football after the "down" years.

We can revel in our glory - let's stay classy and respect all opponents....

....while we beat them.

Go Blue.

Love this team, love what Harbaugh has built in Ann Arbor.

I really believe we can win our 3rd straight over OSU this year and get over the hump in the playoff given that all the elites have lost their starting QB's.  We will need to figure out that whole "how to not blow it in a bowl game" thing, but this team is loaded.

Also great to see recruiting picking up.  We may be entering an era of elite UM football for years to come.

It's great

to be....

Man, Blake Corum was on fire last year.  Such bullshit that he went down literally right before the biggest games of the year after carrying the team all season.

Those long runs of his are just beautiful

I feel so bad for Blake and feel like we would have won against TCU if we had him. But man, it's crazy that it felt like the wind got taken out of our sails when our Heisman hopeful RB got injured right before the biggest game of the year... only for Donovan Edwards to step up with a legendary one-handed takedown of Ohio State in Columbus and monster game in the Big Ten championship. I can't believe we get to watch them both again this year

The WTKA Roundtable and Jesse Minter's interview with Jon Jansen this week got me even more hyped about the defense. Some interesting nuggets from those segments:

- Minter referred to Josiah Stewart as their "changeup pitch." He pointed out how the top 4 edge rushers (McGregor, Moore, Harrell, Stewart) all have very different play styles and diverse skillets, which makes it very difficult for an offensive tackle to be able to prepare for all of them. Like an ace pitcher who has 4 different high quality pitches to keep a batter uncomfortable.

- Not exactly a surprise, but Minter talked about Jenkins and Sainristil like they are THE guys on defense. They think Jenkins will be a monster

- Minter confirmed it was Harbaugh's idea to move Mike Sainristil to defense

- Said Ernest Hausman is hungry and pushing for playing time, and that he won't shy away from the spotlight - he has already played in the Big House on the other side

- Deflected concerns about McGregor taking too long to make a leap. Pointed out that McGregor was working back from injury his first year then was stuck behind monsters like Hutchinson, and was playing his best football at the end of last year. Reminded us that he made some key plays like batted balls against Ohio State as proof that he's ready for the moment too

- It sounds like our concerns and takes about the #2 CB spot are accurate, because Minter sounded like they still don't know who is going to emerge or start there. But my impression is that the most likely is Jaden McBurrows which will still be good, whereas Walker has the lowest floor but highest ceiling if he can reach it. Rod Moore calls McBurrows one of the hardest hitters and one of the best man coverage players on the team

- Not sure I remember this correctly but I think Minter called Rayshaun Benny the most improved player on defense

- Brian anticipates Mason Graham making a leap to generate a lot of pass rush pressure up the middle, which as we've seen from Mo Hurst can have a huge impact

Just to add to the hype and anyone still guzzling the Kool Aid.  The consensus of all the members on the Podcast (Brian, Seth, Sam, and Craig) is they believe this years defense will be better than last years.

They did point out that while the 4 rotating DE are all "good", it would really help if one of them take a step forward and play at a higher level.  My money is on McGregor, I believe most people can not appreciate just how long it takes to fully recover from a significant knee injury.  I'm pretty sure it was mentioned on broadcasts towards the end of last year that just then McGregor's lower body strength was getting up to the levels needs to be a dominate DE.
