Let's Be Fans and Praise Our Team
Let's not forget to be fans and give some positive support to our team. What did you find encouraging and praiseworthy from last night's close loss to a tough team on the road? I'll start us off by saying that Peppers was terrific in getting past blocks and tackling in space. Can't wait to see him develop and make plays!

Solid special teams play.
No sacks allowed.
Several tackles for loss.
We have receivers that can get downfield!

My favorite part of the game was seeing the head football coach with a headset on.

Unfortunetly I ran out of "Well we lost, but good job guy's you'll get em next time!" feelings in 2012. All that are left are "You fucked this, this, and this up... fix it soonish" feelings.

Seriously, he looked ready to play. Extra coverage on him will leave other receivers open. I enjoyed watching the D. Some mistakes but otherwise very competitive.

Loved how physical we were on both sides of the ball.
Defense was really good, but not elite. Disapointing in that regard, but perhaps opportunity to improve.
pass blocking was great.
big concerns about running game. bigger concerns about rudock. nevermind the picks, missing on the longball was more worrisome because that was his rep - not a big arm. If running game doesnt work all year it gets real tough if qb is only reliable within 20 yards.

after a loss
can't remember the last I saaw such TDs
No gimmick offense - all real plays
Team played like a team - sharp, together, conditioned
We do have multiple playmakers
Good rebounds after bad plays/ improved every quarter
Only compromise - QB
This is Harbough era, folks, and it feels like it.

It has its ups and downs, good stretches and (sometimes long) bad ones. Sure, I was disappointed that we didn't come out, play a championship-quality game, and blow Utah into the Great Salt Lake. I understand focusing obsessively on the negatives, because fixing them is how we improve.
But you know, it was ok. It was a first game, on the road, under a new coach, after a tough camp. If you've played any sport, you know that losing a game you wanted badly to win really hurts. But you also know that nothing washes the bad taste out of your mouth better than focusing on the next opponent and working hard to play well enough to win. I'm sure the players and coaches will be ready to resume work by the time they've seen the Utah film and start looking at Oregon State. They'll let it go and move on. We can, too.
(Apologies for posting this again--this thread is actually more relevant.)
