Legacy bball recruit Elmarko Jackson gets Michigan offer
Thought this was notable since Michigan really needs more guards and our current options are only Isaiah Collier (5 star that everyone is after) and Marvell Allen (who Matt is not high on).
Jackson is the nephew of CB Marlin Jackson and has been blowing up with his improved play recently
I reckon MattEM is smiling, knowing he prefers El Marko to Marvel... geez it sounds as if we are in a comic strip.
I immediately thought Ray Jackson when I read legacy bball recruit. Man, it would've been crazy if the rest of the Fab Five had kids the same age as Jace/Jett. Why did they not plan this out 20 years ago?
Ray actually has a son in the 2024 class:
Maybe I just have PTSD from football recruiting, but based on how done of a deal he should be to Michigan, there's no way he's coming to Michigan
I was thinking earlier today how elite you have to be to be a college athlete at a big program. Juwan has three sons that I know play basketball who are all [6''7"] or taller. The eldest played at [Detroit Mercy] but wasn't quite at the level to play at Michigan despite being a legacy. Jace is good enough to play at Michigan, but doesn't seem like he'll be a starter/star. Jett will probably be a starter/star and probably go to the NBA if the current mock drafts are any indication. Juwan was the highest paid player in the NBA at one point. You not only do you have to hit the genetic lottery to be at that elite level, but you have to develop your skills in just the right way. Michigan specialized in NBA stars' kids for awhile there, but most/many of them don't make it to the NBA.
I'm in awe of the kids who actually make it. I do not have the genetics or development. If there was a 5'9" and under NFL I might have been a pretty good lineman.
A few notes:
Some hurt feelings will need to be mended here, but I'd anticipate a fall visit for a FB game
Another note - Michigan had 23' Chris Lockett (top 150 guard out of Louisiana) on campus earlier this week for team camp
Thanks Matt. Not too surprising there on Elmarko. Do you think Michigan played this correctly? It seems like they were in a tough position over the last year with him being a bit up and down on the court
He's 23'tall?!?! Sign him now.
So he’ll commit to Notre Dame?
Okay, I’ll see myself out. Have a good weekend!
Finally. A must get.
If we get Elmarko, can Elpolo be far behind?
El no.
Nicely done.
Signed,
A Dad
read a little about him last year and was surprised he didn't have an offer until now.
Saw Matt's comments, and that makes sense that he is a little bit disappointed it took so long...I wonder what the story was on the delay? Offers don't necessarily mean you take the commitment, so offering early, at least to me, doesn't seem like a negative thing
Seems reasonable,,
247 shows he got an offer in october 2020. I'm not sure how that works, that was an offer for 2022 ans he reclassified after taking a PG year or something?
