Late afternoon/evening games Open Thread

Submitted by Avant's Hands on

Couple of afternoon games are still finishing up and then two of our rivals play what should be interesting games this evening. In Knoxville, Tennessee has just tied Georgia 24-24 in the 4th. And Okie St. just jumped back in front of Kansas St by 1 late in the game.

It is odds.  We have one "5 star" on the D-line in Pipkins.  OSU has about 5 in their freshman/RS freshman grouping.  Some will be ok, some might bust, some will be great.  You need to stack up as much talent as possible and some will hit.  That doesnt mean a 3 star cannot hit but the odds start to decrease.  It will be very difficult to compare the 2 DLs the next 2 years as the OSU DL is essentially HS All American after HS All American, - they have 3 freshman already in the 2 deep I believe.

I hear what you're saying, but when is the last time we had a freshman/soph on the defensive line make an impact?  I can't recall one.  The past few classes have been pretty similar from both teams yet they get guys to contribute on the d-line and we don't despite our head coach and coordinator.  It's frustrating.

No offense, but it's obnoxious when people watch some other team play and then bitch all game about how Michigan isn't the exact same as them.

We can play that game with every team.  Devin Funchess has turned into a total beast as a receiving threat.  Why haven't all other programs' sophomore TEs developed the same way?

Until our team ceases to be frustrating it's only natural to voice your frustration that other teams don't have to deal with...especially when it's a rival, and a team that is recruiting at a similar pace.  It's pretty obvious to compare the two.  When I see us recruit like a top 10 team, yet play like an unranked team, it's frustrating.  Just because we get one position to produce and others don't doesn't mean we should cease to be frustrated by those that don't.  The difference is lack of playmaking ability at TE is not negatively affecting OSU.  Our lack of playmaking at d-line is negatively affecting us.

12 plays, 72 yards, TD, all but one play on the ground with their second and third string running backs.

They're now at 674 for the game. with 9:36 to play in the third.

I guess if they don't want to run up the score they have to start punting on first down.

This game will end once Ohio scores a TD here. I'm telling you, NW won't score again.

I'll be more than happy to eat crow if NW wins.

I think "Triggerman" is Musberger-speak for "Unstoppable Throw-god".

Also, Brent really needs to get off the air and live a quiet, retired, creepy life in Winterhaven, FL. Or something. Just please go away.

"Urbz" gonna go for it. This is a no brainer. Ohio's line is larger and better than NW's DL. The smart move is to kick the FG, but if you want to win this game, you score a TD here.

EDIT: It's a TD anyway, so never mind.

Another reason to root for NW - if OSU somhow fumbles vs say ILL (yes I know not likely but every year there is 1 game you go - HUH!) and Wisconsin runs the table, OSU is not even in the Big 10 championship game
