According to Kugler, it doesn't change anything and he's still coming to UM. I would have to imagine that even his father realizes his son will have greater opportunities at UM than UTEP.

Counterpoint: The trainwreck that is the Ferentz clan at Iowa. One kid playing, one kid as a posistion coach, dad as the headcoach.

I don't think conventional wisdom applies when you're an nfl caliber coach at the postion your offspring plays.

I wondered about his connection to UTEP before I read this:

I like the setting of UTEP's stadium.

Sean Kugler was also an OG, I believe, for UTEP in the mid-80s, including a stint where his OL coach was a then little-known Andy Reid. Small world, football is.

Can dad still take his son out for lunch? Recruiting violations are tough these days.

As long as he doesn't put creamcheese on his bagel sandwich.

Pretty sure Ferentz and his son on the o-line are working out fine

Not sure but it has to be soon. MIchigan is on semesters so winter term starts right after the new year holiday.
Not to start any new panic, but Mack Leftwich, QB for Patrick Kugler's HS team (North Allegheny), just committed to UTEP, who is the D-1 school Patrick's Dad is now going to coach. I sure hope his QB doesn't pressure Patrick to come along to UTEP.
