Kovacs Named to Lott IMPACT Trophy 2012 Watchlist
Not surprising given that he was a quarterfinalist (I believe) last year.
The link pretty much says all there is to say... although Rittenburg suggesting that Gholston should be on the list is mildly amusing given that the first two criteria are Integrity and Maturity. I guess we can watch for that.

Nice
That deserves a big old #
I am really curious to see if he will end up being drafted next year.
I can definitely see him being picked up in the 7th, by a team that just wants to make sure they get first crack at him.
other than the fact that they are both white, former walk-ons in the big ten, they could not be more different in terms of playing style.
I'd think the maturity/integrity part might rule out Max Bullough too, though I'm sure he was extra-tenacious when attempting to elude those Colorado officers last year. Oh well...glad we have Kovacs. Good story, him.
the neck twist on Denard should have drawn a suspension from B1G, IMO. Another Sparty setting the standard for all green Greek boys to follow.
Even though he doesn't run a 4.4, I think a team might take a chance and try him out as a blitzing nickel back/ third down-type player. Safe to say he is looking at a 1-2 year contract if he gets drafted.
Does anybody know what his current legit 40 time is as a starting point? As a safety he doesn't have to have 4.4 speed but he should get to 4.5 or can make it at 4.6 with good reactions/smarts. A lot of guys in the 2nd and 3rd level of defense are better or worse than their 40's based upon their ability to read and and react. Give me a team of 4.5 and 4.6 dudes who are in the right spot and I'd be successful. I would guess post season that Kovacs could drop at least a tenth on his forty with dedicated training. If he has a great season I think you could see him as high as a 5th or 6th at the top end given his trajectory.
I'm glad he is getting more notice as his career winds down. His sophomore year everyone was speculating on who would replace him. I (and a few others) said Kovacs would start for the rest of his days at Michigan. Great kid and a great story.
JMFK!!!!
