Minter's dad was a long time college coach, and the two of them are coaching together right now, which is pretty cool and shouldn't be taken for granted.

Minter has also been mostly a college coach in his career, unlike Mike MacDonald.

I have no idea where this "Minter = NFL guy" meme came from, but.... [citation needed]

Whatever JJ does, I will never stop rooting for that kid. If he comes back, I will savor every snap he takes for us. If he decides to declare, I will hope that my Vikings can draft him, and wherever he goes, cheer him on throughout his career (and inevitably draft him in fantasy.)

Right? The Vikings front office reportedly are fans of his. Can you imagine him throwing to JJ, Addison, and Hockenson? Hopefully his mobility can come into play and help him navigate the o-line a bit. But I can't get too ahead of myself, I still have a national championship for our Wolverines to savor! I just get so excited thinking about getting to cheer him on for my team, college or pro!

As a Bears fan my nightmare was that the Packers would take him when Love was struggling earlier in the year.  The good news/bad news is that Love improved and I doubt they will be looking to take a QB.  But of course the Packers will spend exactly 0 years in the QB wilderness the Bears have been in since forever.

I was assuming Harbaugh would take Minter to the pros. Or, if McDonald gets a HC job somewhere, then Minter goes to DC at Ravens.

But no worries, undoubtedly there is an assistant DC in Baltimore who would just transfer to UM for a couple years. That's how this works... right?

(TBH, I am still holding out hope that Ravens win the SB this year, so... John retires from NFL coaching, Jim takes the Ravens gig, and John comes to UM. Like... there's a chance, right?)

It's a weird situation in my opinion, because I do think his ceiling is much higher than he's shown, but I'm not sure a team with no Roman, CJ, or Barner helps him get closer to that ceiling. If he's getting first rd feedback it might not be a horrible idea to just go. Obviously I'd love it if he returned though.

I think it's very important for M that JJ is drafted well and is a successful pro. He doesn't put up the same gawdy stats because of the offense he runs and that can scare recruits and scouts.

If he is drafted well and plays well at the next level that will assuage a lot of fears to keep our QB pool full of prospects.

I think that being "drafted well" may have more to do with going to a stable situation where he has some time to acclimate and learn behind a veteran than being taken early and immediately being thrown in the fire at a bad franchise that doesn’t invest in right pieces. There are plenty of teams that churn through QBs and WRs picks that are perpetual doormats. You want JJ to go to a place where they build from the inside out. It starts on the OL. If you can’t protect him he won’t be successful. Having at least a functional defense also would help because if he is constantly playing from behind then he won’t be able to utilize the running game to take some pressure of his development as an NFL passer.

I was listening to sports radio in the car today. Not even sure who. Their opinion by the way was Michigan was a better job. More realistic and supportive fan base with tradition and resources. Following Saban is a high risk play.

They said UW coach Deboer would be a leading candidate to replace Harbaugh.

Which I find curious because I can’t imagine Moore would not stay and take the head job.
