Kevin Wilson (OSU OC) taking HC job at Tulsa

Linky.

I'm guessing Team Poop Cooler aren't too upset about this.  I'm betting they look for someone with more of a run game expertise this offseason.

Probably not good news for us.  Seems like he was probably told to look elsewhere so they can hire an upgrade who will call the plays.

Of course, if you can't blame the DC, I guess they blame the OC this year.  Next year will be special teams?

I dunno man, Wilson was an OSU reclaimation project after he basically was fired with cause from Indiana, much in the way it seems like half the staff at Bama is disgraced former head coaches that rehab their rep then get another job.  I don't think all the details came out but I do recall IU didn't pay his buyout or most of his buyout, and it was something about misconduct towards players.  See, it worked because I don't remember!  Anyways, I always had a hunch he was going to move on once everyone had sufficiently forgotten about his exit from IU.

Per IU AD's language, the school and Wilson parted ways "due to philosophical differences" and they agreed on a ~$600,000 buy-out with no mitigation clause.

The story that sparked it all was an anonymous father claiming that Wilson forced his son to run 6 miles at practice post-concussion when his son was only cleared to practice for 20 minutes, and it made his son's concussion symptoms worse afterwards.

After that story broke, a handful of Wilson's former players (most notably former QB Zander Diamont and WR Shane Wynn) essentially spoke out in support and said that Wilson was always fully supportive of his players injury recovery. They said that Wilson was strict, but he followed the direction of medical staff. Per those players, if cleared by medical staff to practice/work, Wilson wasn't going to let a player "be soft." Whatever that means...

Almost sounds like IU's athletic department wanted Wilson to issue a public apology or statement, but Wilson didn't feel like he did anything wrong.

Kevin Wilson had a big time drinking problem. He was arrested the 1st night he was in Bloomington and the police called the AD saying someone was arrested and claiming to be the football coach. Turns out it was in fact head coach Wilson. Anyways, the problem persisted from day 1 and IU put up with it until they thought they had something with Tom. So they let Wilson go and promoted Tom. He’s a great offensive mind. But IUs AD would not put a good word in for him after they split.

General consensus down here is that Day will elevate Hartline to OC which would be a nice consolation price for Hartline after missing out on the Bearcats HC job.

Hartline might be the best WR recruiter/coach in the country so it will be interesting to see his impact on the Georgia game.  Definitely leaning into the passing game if this happens.

While I’m no expert I played in college and have coached as a GA and at the high school level for 12 years.  Watching ohios receivers it became apparent that while they are excellent athletes they aren’t  necessarily well coached.  While good at some key things there are some  flawed fundamentals and effort issues when not the primary receiver and in blocking.

This. And they are dreaming if they believe that Stroud is going to get to throw from a clean pocket. Georgia is going to bring five roaring beasts on every play and those DBs are going to be jumping routes in Will Johnson style. This is why I believe OSU is going to regret receiving the "opportunity" to play Georgia. If OSU couldn't muster any effort and intensity against Michigan how in the world are they going to respond to Georgia throwing haymakers from the opening bell???

Is he the the one that started Indiana's transformation from being Team Chaos to Team Let's Try to Break Their Kneecaps on Every Play? Or is that more of a Tom Allen thing?
