Juwan Howard offers 2024 C John Bol
Juwan Howard just offered 2024 center prospect John Bol. He moved to Saint Louis from South Sudan a year ago and he's having a hell of a year in Saint Louis. 24/7 has him as the 14th prospect and Rivals at 24. Based on his offers this early he looks like a top 30 prospect. The article posted below talks about his move here from South Sudan as well as how he had never heard of Michigan or Juwan Howard until a night before he was offered he watch the Fab Five doc. Worth a read and I'd love to have this kind of defensive presence and lob threat on the team.
7-foot-2 John Bol, a 2024 recruit originally from South Sudan, didn't know anything about Juwan Howard or Michigan until the day before his offer — which he called "the best thing that's ever happened to me" — came in.

Incredible story by @TiptonEdits https://t.co/ts0bnBNoou
At 7-foot-2, compared to Manute that would make him a Little Bol.
Minute Bol?
The reply button is back! (this is the first thread I’ve seen since late this afternoon)
This will make MgrowOld very happy 😊
Looks like it is time for a Reply Button Posbang!!!
...and points appear to be busted. There is a certain equilibrium that must be maintained... balance in the force.
true story: back when i was in grad school the undergrad was a D-1 team and had a red-shirt freshman, 6' 11", that was nicknamed 'minute bol'. we're playing his team in an IM game and i'm the lone guy back on 2--on-1 and he gets the ball, going for a jam. i stuffed him. got called for the foul, but you can imagine i wasn't too upset about that whistle.
You didn’t tell us which ball of his you snuffed that got you the foul? His right or left?
I’m betting both.
hey now, you might be surprised, or at least, you would've been back in the day. my 4 oldest sons all have some pretty impressive hops, too.
How could he not have seen Michigan win the big 10 and make the elite 8 last year? Does he live in East St Louis?
I guarantee there are international sports happenings he'd be equally as perplexed at us not knowing about.
Not related to Manute or Bol Bol it seems but he does look, in body type, very similar to Bol Bol. He seems like a kid that's easy to root for based on his upbringing. Hope we can lock him down!
Bol is like Smith in Sudan.
So his "American name" is John Smith!
You leave Sudan alone.
As a Nuggets fan, probably for the best. Bol Bol seems like a nice enough kid but his work ethic and hustle is atrocious, especially for a back of the roster guy who should have both of those things in spades. Can't remember the last 7+ footer who was as bad a defender as him, highlight blocks aside. CSB, I know.
GO BLUE
Probably not tall enough for Purdue right?
Not slow and plodding enough for Purdue.
Not Drago enough either.
shooting guard
kidding aside, seems like a pretty incredible young man besides the fact that he's 7' 2" - In the classroom, Bol boasts a 4.0 GPA. In six of his seven classes, he has a grade of 98 or higher. His lowest score is in Spanish (95), as he’s in the process of learning his fourth language. He also speaks fluently in English, Swahili, and Arabic.
Lol god damn, kid is talented. And that's before we consider basketball/
They’re due a 7’5 guy. They’ve somehow gone up an inch in their starting center.
Hammons was 7’1, Haas was 7’2, Haarms was 7’3 and Edy is 7’4. And all in that time they also had Swanigan and Trevion.
And the only March run they made was because of Carsen Edwards
Yeah was going to say in no way have any of their bigs dominated like you’d think they would. It’s weird. Not sure if it’s scheme or the players themselves or what but consistently underwhelmed by Boiler bigs.
Juwan is making a Bol statement in his recruiting of top talent.
Wooly Boly.
Only slightly better than "Wooly Bollocks", which is more of a hygiene thing.
Kid is magnetic. Hope Juwan visits him in person soon.
Let's go Bol-ing!
Teske (although he wasn't his recruit), Hunter, Moussa, Revitalization of Austin Davis(not his recruit but played his best under Juwan) etc. Juwan will always have talented big men.
Tarris Reed will carry on the tradition next season.
This guy looks like a special basketball player and an even more special human. Hopefully the fact that he's a fantastic student can play a role in getting him to Michigan. With players like him, Juwan will one day win a national championship.

Between the football and men's basketball team, UM has done quite well with over seas players be they refugees like Kwity, adoptees like Colson or just guys who moved here to play like the Wagners. I wonder how we stack up against other schools and if that's something that would make a kid feel more comfortable playing here. I know there was an MBB program a few years ago that had kids from like five or six different countries but I don't remember who it was.
In any case, hope this young man succeeds where ever he decides to go!
Saint Mary's?
The 2025 marketing assets with this kid standing next to the incoming 5'0" pg will be spectacular.
Mitch McGary is very excited about the idea of Bol.
