Honestly, I felt like the only reason RR picked him up was because we needed a QB in last years class. It's obvious he didn't have the skills to do it though. However, if he does leave, best of luck to him and I'll choose to remember him by that long (34 yards or so?) run against what I believe was Minnesota on the ISQD play.
Yeah I mean he doesn't really have a role on the team. It's unfortunate but I agree with MichFan in that RichRod picked him up solely to have a QB in the last class.
He probably sees another opportunity at another school and I wouldn't blame him if he took it up. Although I would also hate to see another player leave the team.

I guess we can count Hill, but this is still the first transfer of a Rodriguez recruit who actually went through his system, and that's what really matters, I think.
He's also the first Rodriguez recruit to transfer whose last name begins with "F", so I think that's what really matters.
Hill was recruited by Rodriguez - followed him from WVU to Michigan, actually - and spent a summer working toward playing for the program. He transferred.
No matter how you slice it, Hill was the first post-Carr recruit to transfer. Whether he spent two months or twelve months in the program, Feagin isn't the first. Let's not pretend that this is the beginning of something horrible. It goes on everywhere, and it's happened here before.
Chill out. I don't know where you got the idea I think this transfer is the sign of something horrible or even unusual. I also don't dispute Hill was the first Rodriguez transfer. That would be silly.
Hill barely made it through fall practice, Feagin went through the whole year. I think it's safe to say their level of familiarity with the program wasn't comparable. I'm glad you think that Feagin being the first transfer whose last name begins with F is what's most important, but I maintain the fact that he was the first Rodriguez player with good familiarity with the system to transfer is just a little more important.
i don't think he has the skills to succeed at QB at any school. he still has a chance as a d-back or slot man. if true, this is disappointing...
Not that any of us have seen much but this team is already full of "premium slut men". He probably just doesn't want to be inhumed on the bottom of the depth chart at any position.

The Scout premium boards are definitively reporting that Feagin has left the team.
its probably going to be a strong possibility with any Florida kids that get here don't get the playing time they might have envisioned when they signed. I'm not trying to make predictions, just thinking it might not be uncommon to see this happen once every second or third year. Also, he has a kid or something living in FL which probably makes the distance extra tough.
I was afraid this would happen. He was told he would have a shot at playing QB, but then Forcier, Robinson and Gardner committed, and I'm sure he saw the handwriting on the wall. The same is true at the slot position. It would open up a scholarship, but the press will be all over it, especially since it would be the first RR recruit to leave. We may see more of this. The lure of playing time probably brought a lot of these kids here. We'll see what happens as the depth chart fills out.
I don't see any reason for the press to jump all over this (that doesn't mean they won't). Every major program has transfers from guys who chose said major program because they got their shiny offer, then a year or two later found themselves buried on the depth chart. This shouldn't be seen as a negative, as it's beneficial to both the player and the team. I understand the press jumping all over the Boren situation (he was a returning starter) but this is very common.

I had hoped he would stick around and play slot or DB. I had heard he was having some trouble catching the ball so maybe that is why he isn't having much fun playing slot.
So if he can't play QB and can't play slot, there doesn't seem to be much chance of him getting a ton of playing time.
It only seems like yesterday he was saying he wanted to compete against Pryor for the QB role.
I remember seeing that photo of him on signing day, and he looked ecstatic with his wolverine cap on. I saw McGuffie's transfer coming, that one didn't dissappoint me too much (given our running back depth). O'Neill was a slug at practice from what I understand, so I didn't care too much about him transferring either. Wermers, well obviously I don't give a shit about him. Feagin, from what I understand, is a team player and you can never have enough of those. Hopefully he stays, if not, best of luck to him in the future.
This is a bummer. I would like to see Justin workout as a DB in some capacity.
Of all of the recent transfers, this would rank up there with O'Neil as one of the least surprising.
Though he wasn't ever going to contribute at quarterback, I thought he would have provided some good depth at corner or slot, maybe might even have become a decent role player later on.
I liked this guy—he always seemed like a hard-working player in practice, even when the year went on and he still hadn't seen the field (until Minnie).

Another transfer, considering how many we've had in this offseason alone, would be a little depressing. Hope the Rivals board isn't correct about what ever bad news is to come.

Losing T-Rob would be a blow at our slot depth. If it's true, Gallon and Odoms better stay healthy.
Well, it could force us to utilize our TEs some more, which would be a good thing, imho. Supposedly, Koger & Webb were both terrific in Spring practices.

He was recruited as an athlete. It would have been nice to see him make the switch. We have plenty of guys for the slot. It would take at least 3 or 4 guys to get injured in order for him to be put in. On the other hand he could almost be guaranteed playing time as a DB if he made the switch.
I thought one or more of Florida/FSU/Miami/Georgia/etc. had interest in him as a DB.
I'm not overly disappointed in his transfer assuming he goes somewhere to be a QB or receiver. However, it would be a downer if he ends up at a major school as a DB, given the thinness of our secondary.

I think we were the only school to offer him a QB spot. I only remember him being recruited as a WR elsewhere.

I think it would really be a shame if we lost him to a large school - especially with our current DB situation. The two deep has a walk on so he would have a real good chance at competing.

that there's a rule for football that if you have a scholarship to play any other sport, you would still count on the football teams 85 limit. The only way around that would be to walk-on, in which case you don't have a scholarship to play for any team at your school. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I find myself somehow relieved that a kid got kicked off the team for bad behavior rather than transferring out and saying something bad about the program. What a waste this is.

That's quite a leap. Maybe he failed one too many drug tests, hazed a freshman, cheated on a test or defied the coaches. None of those are necessarily more serious, morally, at least, than drunk driving. At this point we probably shouldn't speculate.
