He has been so good this year for Minnesota after looking pretty rough early in his career. Really earned that captains patch and is thriving under Brian Flores.

He earned his roster spot as a good special-teamer as a rookie. But, even then they slower worked him onto the field as a safety. If I remember correctly, an injury to someone got him some playing time, and just as he did here, he steadily improved to a quality, quality player.

Knee injuries suck.

Yeah, I think that knee injury has been tough to come back from. It may have seriously affected his entire athletic psyche. And, I think they had him playing out of position as an inside backer in a 3-4. Here, he was solid sideline to sideline, and downhill middle linebacker. If he had gone to team that runs a 4-3, he would have acclimated more easily.

Justin Fields is really paying for Buckeye sins the past two weeks. Hutchinson strip sack safety, Metellus lighting him up.
Stroud's getting a pass (pun intended) since he lost twice to us, and was pretty transparent about thinking of OSU as nothing more than a stepping stone to the pros.

My superficial take, not having watched much Bears because I'm not a masochist, is that Fields probably isn't the problem but definitely isn't the solution. Does that track with what you've seen?

Most definitely. Fields could be good in the right situation. The bears are not the right situation for most.

While I'm glad Josh Mettellus had a really good game, I'm even more glad to see that the Vikings lost. It put a bit more distance between Detroit and Minnesota in the division standings.

Exactly this. Detroit has looked awful the last couple of weeks, to an alarming extent. It is paramount that the vikings start losing some games.

I don't watch a lot of NFL as I spend A LOT of time on college FB. I did see Mettellus in some highlights earlier this year though for another interception and a big tackle. Good to see him doing well.
