i am the only one who doesn't get the point of this post?
Players celebrate huge win after a very special coach teaches them that the most important lesson is beileiving in themselves. Coach stands on the sidelines and smiles, taking no glory from his players/students. Freeze Frame. Fade to black.
I guess it only works if you've seen Karate Kid as many times as I have.
Dont worry. I got it.
in Any Given Sunday
inches that we need are everywhere around us.
It's perfect that you chose a moment from the Miracle on Ice. Beilein's reaction is almost identical to Herb Brooks' when Erzione scores the go ahead goal. Micheals says "I love Brooks' reaction!"
Trey Burke stars as Jimmy Chitwood. I'll make that shot. .. John Beilein as Coach Dale. The team.... yours truly as Dennis Hopper screaming and jumping around... great musical ending.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Fttt3fFTxk.
But I can't in any way, shape or form associate Coach B with anything Indiana.
think of the bus rides coach B has taken with small schools, think of the clean cut good kids: Zack Novak and MItch McGary from Chesterton... think of Stu Douglass, Glen Robinson, and Max Bielfeldt... I think the biggest Norman Dale moment came when coach B benched Manny Harris against Purdue Harris in the overtime and Michigan crumbled. This was definitely a “my team’s on the floor moment” for Coach Beilein. We will probably never know the full story behind the benching and we probably shouldn’t know that is team business.
benched him in the OT against Iowa. Against Purdue he flat out left him in the bus.
Beilein vs. Pitino in the final would be the ultimate paradox. Armani rocking, job hopping scumbag of an individual vs. blue collar, sub eating family man. Good vs. evil.
