I know Roman is well-respected but the Ravens thought he wasn't a good fit and then immediately their offense took a pretty big jump forward with Monken as they went more pass-heavy.  I guess LAC will try to be a bit more Michigan-like but Herbert is not much of a running threat and the little I saw of the Chargers this year didn't strike me as a team that was optimized for the more run-heavy style favored by Harbaugh and Roman.

I think Harbaugh will do fine in the NFL but this first year might be bumpier than some expect.

The reason he didn't take the OC from Michigan is because the OC is now the Head Coach. If this wasn't the case, this post wouldn't be the case.

Jim so played everyone. He had everyone thinking that sherrone was the best guy for the job. He propped him up so much any chance he got bc he knew wardes dumbass and fans would fall for it. He knew if we made Minter head coach, most of the staff stays with him. Man what a shit show. Jim’s having his way with Warde, Michigan, and Moore. Sucks

I'll take the less cynical view.

In the first three suspensions, they played games with the head coaching thing. 4 head coaches for three games, including Minter, who had a game all to himself (unlike Jay and Hart).

In the last three games, they had to make the best decision. They needed someone who could take command of the whole team and who could still handle their other job at the same time.

I think Minter is not (at least yet) head coach material. Further, his undivided attention on the defense was necessary.

At the time, I thought Hart would have been the best option so that Moore could focus on play calling. But I think they determined Moore was better equipped to take charge of the sideline and could lean on Hart and (especially) Campbell to help with the down to down offense.

As for why Harbaugh wanted to lift the entire Michigan staff except the offensive coaching, that's because he he feels he is the brains behind the offense and doesn't really need anyone from Michigan. They were there to recruit.

Herbert reminds me of Pad Stattford.  Amazing arm talent, but no results.  Jim's offense is the last thing i'd want for that guy really.  Something like D Henry Titans 2017 would be more JH alley.

Roman is a fairly obvious pick.  He’s very much a Jim Harbaugh guy.  I think he would have brought him to Michigan if he could but I don’t think he wanted to go back to the college game.

More interesting would have been if he brought back Drevno or Pep Hamilton but I think those bridges might be burned.

I do think there will be some NFL guys he hires who he probably wanted to bring to Michigan but they didn’t want to come to college.
