it's gna be awesome
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:10 PM ^
Ehh kind of a tease but oh well.
I'll wait til next offseason to over-analyze the uniforms.
3 more hours!

People in this thread are apparently too young to remember that Nike itself was once a basketball brand in the early/mid 1980s and had hardly any presence in football.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:15 PM ^
It was Sonny Vaccaro who made it a basketball brand. The signing of MJ went a long ways towards doing that.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:17 PM ^
And before that, Nike was a Greek goddess - the Winged Goddess of Victory. Did no one take this into account when we switched to Adidas?!

Nike was just a simple farmer's daughter. Spending her days tending to goats and dreaming about one day marrying that cute boy next door. That he was her cousin didn't matter to Nike, for she was in love.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:29 PM ^
She might have married the cute boy next door, but that was after she got knocked up by the travelling salesman.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:31 PM ^
There's no wrath like the wrath of a scorned goddess.
Sure would explain a lot about the last 8 years or so.

Sadly decapitated, but she's still a head turner.
[anyone? anyone? that one is from an art history GSI from collage helping us study for an exam]

They paid $5000 every single game in fines on Jordan's behalf for breaking the NBA uniform rules, and capitalized on the buzz that created with a clever ad campaign. Always thought that was a stroke of genius.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:17 PM ^
Obvious difference being that the jumpman logo has an actual basketball in it. But, yes, it's just a logo. If Derek Jeter can wear the logo on baseball cleats, I don't see how it matters that we'll wear it on our football uniforms.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:29 PM ^
I assumed the football Jumpman would be holding a football. Wouldn't that make sense?
September 3rd, 2015 at 7:12 PM ^
What does that matter? My polo shirt has a guy riding a horse on it.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:58 PM ^
Wrong...Nike started as Running shoes, not basketball

AFAIK neither Phil Knight nor Bill Bowerman ever even played basketball or football. Bowerman was a badass track coach, though.
September 3rd, 2015 at 7:11 PM ^
I didn't say they started in basketball, sooo, yer dumb.
September 3rd, 2015 at 7:43 PM ^
You said they were a basketball brand...which isn't true. I mean why not at least do a quick Google before spouting off a bunch of BS? What would that take...15 seconds?

They were known primarily as a basketball brand in the 1980s. That is an objective fact. What they started off as in 1971 doesn't help you here. Try to bring it a little harder next time.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:13 PM ^
It's. Just. A. Logo.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:20 PM ^
That is the quesiton. I can see the Jordan logo working on the shoe. If they put it on the jersey it's going to be weird.
September 3rd, 2015 at 6:13 PM ^
Completely agree. The michigan I remmeber is Charles Woodson in a blue jersey with a swoosh on it. That's what I want to see again..... Not an icon of a basketball player!!!

The Michigan I grew up and remember wore Russell Athletic jerseys.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:19 PM ^
Only 2 more hours and we will have so many more worthwhile things to talk about.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:35 PM ^
Where do you live? Game doesn't start for another 3 hours where I live...
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:20 PM ^
Jumpman is more than a "just a basketball logo" now. It's iconic. Dez Bryant wears jumpman cleats. So did Derek Jeter. David Price currently does as well.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:30 PM ^
It's been making football cleats for a while now and people that pay attention to shoes have noticed. These have been worn by Michael Crabtree and Earl Thomas respectively.
September 3rd, 2015 at 6:06 PM ^
So our receivers will perform like that bum Crabtree 7 catches for 35 yards?
September 3rd, 2015 at 6:35 PM ^
He's not a bum. He's sorry-assed. Ask Richard Sherman.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:28 PM ^
Remember how Adidas put ND in their huge commercials? Well Jordan brand has some amazing ads. Imagine Michigan themed versions of these:
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:32 PM ^
WHY CAN'T WE SEE THEM???
WD! Find pictures and post them!
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:37 PM ^
I can't imagine what WD would do to see those pictures.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:41 PM ^
I bet he would cut his own pinky off.
September 3rd, 2015 at 6:40 PM ^
or maybe his pinky toe?
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:44 PM ^
Imagine what he'd do to put his hands... er... touch one.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:35 PM ^
If it helps with recruiting... whatever. If I do get ANY gear with ANY nike logo, the stitch ripper comes out. Just like it does with the New Era logo on caps.
I care about Michigan, not Nike.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:35 PM ^
It's like having the power of Michael Jordan actually INFUSED into your uniform.
Ok wait, no it's just a logo, sorry.
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:37 PM ^
Is the damn interim removed before AD Jim Hackett
September 3rd, 2015 at 5:57 PM ^
Interesting how UNC wasn't the first to wear the logo. He's all over down there.
September 3rd, 2015 at 6:19 PM ^
Maybe the biggest apparel coup to date!

Amazing how a symbol holds more power than any of these alternate jerseys coming out. Sometimes it's the smallest things that make the biggest impact. It's just too bad we have to wait a season, but I think we have all been spoiled this past year! Gives us something to think about, talk about, and spectate to death.

I wish that I had half the amount of time in any given day that you guy's have when you guy's go on and on about trivial things like what logo is on a jersey.
September 3rd, 2015 at 8:15 PM ^
Smh
It's just a logo. It's how you recognize the brand. I'm not sure if the complainers are aware but Jordan has had his hands in other sports than basketball for well over a decade now.

a most unfriendly individual with a very, VERY high opinion of himself
September 4th, 2015 at 10:26 AM ^
but we're not actually having to deal with all the bad stuff that comes with him as a person. It's a brand that we want for the recognition it provides. Nothing more.
