Just how good is he, anyway?  I'm not a huge recruiting guy, and I usually only follow the current class.  I see he's 6'4, 182 lbs, so naturally, his height is great, but someone is going to potentially break him in half if Barwis doesn't have a year with him.  Any stats at all?  Where is he projected to rank?

All we have to go on for Jackson is that he had M, Florida, and Texas offers. That's pretty impressive; he'll definitely be at least a mid-four star. I think he'll probably be in the 100-200 range but might be an end of the top 100 sort.

i agree and i really think jeremy jackson will be good. but i also think his scholarship list might be a little inflated since his dad is a coach and knows a lot of other coaches, i.e., vance bedford the old UofM coach now at florida. and that's not to say he isn't good cause i've been hearing a lot of great things about him. both him and ricardo should be a star duo.

As MRG cited in another JJ thread, Jackson is projected as a Top 5 recruit OVERALL by one podunk ESPN recruiting guy.  He holds offers from Texas and Florida, which tells you all you need to know about a kid like that.

 Jackson, Miller, and Robinson are essentially a package deal from the vibes I got from Ricardo.  They're all going to UM, they love UM, and there are no decommitment worries.

Well, your powers of foresight are no doubt impressive, but his verbal was hardly "obvious." Indeed, there were compelling reasons for him to go elsewhere: 1. Desire to live in a different part of the country. 2. Uneasiness with having one's father as a coach. 3. Feelings that a different program would be a better "fit," in terms of style of play, etc. 4. Other personal reasons such as rapport with the coaches or players of another program, etc. Same reason that, say, many children of U-M professors decide to leave Ann Arbor for college/university. And to call anyone out for not thinking he was a 100% "lock" to U-M is a bit... lame.

rich, the reasons i felt like he would be coming to michigan were: 1) his dad is a coach and 2) he grew up in a2. and honestly, i think the 2nd reason outweighed the first more so. obviously none of this is concrete (ask JJ for the actual answers) but i grew up in a2 wanting to goto mich and did. basically all of my friends did as well or at least they were huge michigan fans. you can't discredit all of his friends and family wanting him to play for UofM b/c if you grow up in a2, UofM is basically a huge part of your childhood. it's a hard to thing to shake. that's why i thought he'd be coming to michigan. oh, and his dad is a coach.

I wouldn't overrate the "Grew up in Ann Arbor" thing.  I am a college sophomore and I grew up in Ann Arbor with two parents who work for the University.  I LOVE Michigan and pretty much every thing about it, but I didn't want to spend all my time in the same place from birth.  I looked at schools all over the East Coast and a few in Michigan.  I ended up going to a small school near Jackson and I am glad that I did.  I love the town and I love the teams, and still go back for some games, but I wanted to leave and experience the world outside of the Deuce.  Its all a matter of opinion though, as my older brother (by 2 years) attends Michigan and he loves it.  I think the main reason he would have committed is because he knows all of the coaches well, has gone to a lot of practices, and probably likes the WR coach.  He probably also has relationships with a few of the guys on the team as well.

Considering that Jackson's father is a coach. There is a good chance that he is already starting to work with Barwis (or at least get into the super secret training regime). By the time he shows up in 2010 he may already have the pounds on him needed to not be broken in half like a twig when he plays.

But this kid has zero stars!  I'm so sick of Rich Rodriguez recruting these guys that aren't highly ranked!

In fact, this whole class is looking pretty bad.  Two zero-star guys!

Actually, there seem to be no recruits in the whole country ranked higher than zero stars for the 2010 class.  I guess we'll be okay.
