...is the unfortunate poster child of morally wrong NCAA rules. It also strikes me as unfair that Jamal was kicked out of the NCAA yet Michael Oher was lauded and they eventually made a book and movie about him. I guess the Tuohy's knew how to keep certain things secret and get around the rules better than Jamal's "adopting" father in Seattle . However, Jamal's ineligibility might have saved us a couple more years of Ellerbe and someone not named Beilein would now be our coach. Silver lining, I guess.

Well, after the NCAA investigated the Crawford situation they concluded that no violation had occurred. Crawford could have come back to school afterwards, but probably just wanted to make some money. If I remember correctly, they kicked Avery Queen and another player off the team that year for rule violations......so it wouldn't really surprise me if they also "encouraged" Crawford to go pro.

What are you talking about? The NCAA investigated Crawford and found that he was guilty of accepting $15,000 in extra benefits. He could not return without paying back the money. As he had no source of income, he had no choice but to leave.

Well, Michael Oher was legally adopted by the Tuohy's, which would mean that any money, lodging, or food they gave him was no different than if his mother was doing it. The guy doing such things for Crawford was not a legal guardian - he was just a guy.

I hate to point this out but....if I coached the Suns I would have told my whole team that "if Crawford gets the ball then everyone collapse on him 5 on 1"...if you have ever watched him before you know he isn't passing that shot away.

It was nuts when he made the shot. That said, fuck Jamal Crawford and the horse he rode in on. His 17-game experience at M and the heat he brought on the program leave me with a *very* bitter taste in my mouth.
