Jalen Rose Laid Off by ESPN
Huge purge today at ESPN. Jalen and Jeff Van Gundy were let go, along with a bunch of other on-air personalities.
Firing Ashley Brewer is the real crime
It blows my mind that they get rid of good reporters & on-air talent and yet they continue to keep that blathering idiot SAS around, not to mention the fact they pay him an ungodly amount.
SAS, SVP, and Kiper are synonymous with the brand. They're untouchable.
I can't believe he was only laid off once. I thought for sure there would be three or more threads. Perhaps moms got here before I did.
On the good news front, it appears that David Pollack is on the list as well.
Yeah, fuck that guy. He was annoying BEFORE Georgia won two National Titles.
Well maybe NBC Fox or CBS will give him a call
It’s time for TomVH to come home to mgoblog!
Jalen made about $25 million talking into a camera for 8 years ... im hoping he somehow comes back to Michigan hoops , adviser, rectuting radio voice ....
Hopefully, since this is a layoff, Jalen qualifies for unemployment benefits.
Wait a company laid off people to make sure their stock value stays on the up?? No fucking way that never happens
And everyone thinking Jalen is really good I strongly disagree with you. He will be fine but he is very unwatchable most of the time. ESPN’s NBA coverage isn’t good.
TNT should snag Van Gundy up immediately.
It's the cord cutters fault. ESPN is losing subs faster than they can can the talent.
Jalen’s shtick has been wearing thin for years.
I only ever watch ESPN during a game. I find all the their analysts generic and boring. But my low opinion of their on air talent is based on very limited viewing, so maybe I'm missing out on some entertaining stuff, but I seriously doubt it.
I'd rather they purge all high paid talent and find more sports to show, college hockey, college lacrosse, G league games, European basketball leagues, rugby.
I'd also like to see them contract guest analysts. I'd much rather hear the Mgoblog staff the week leading to Michigan v. Ohio State than anyone from ESPN.
looked thru the thread and didn't see mention of Jalen and Jacobi (spelling?) podcast. Jalen could still do this I suppose. they are a very good team even though the focus was or is on NBA stuff and kinda fluffy so maybe they could add content and cover more ground.
Jalen is good and generally has an interesting take on things. He will land on his feet somewhere. Don't see him coaching but who knows.
ESPN is tripe. Overhaul the brand or just let it end gracefully I say.
