Jake Roh/Chaparral HS game on Fox Detroit now

Submitted by mlGOBLUE on

For those desperate for football, with a little U of M twist.  Haven't seen him do much yet, but they did ID him on the screen.  I know he's on the radar as possible recruit.

This is a fun time of year to have DirecTV and their "sportspack".  They show a ton of high school games on the various RSNs.  It's the only meaningful football on TV this time of year (obviously), but we're so desparate for football that we watch all of it.

Bishop Gormans o-line was just massive. They murdered Chaparral in the second half. Roh didn't look like anyone that Michigan needs.

Watching Jake yesterday, I did not see a speedster, but he has a good frame and seemed to run good short/medium routes. He looked to me like he might make a solid TE eventually if he can put on some weight. He dropped one pass, but most of the other issues were either Connor Brewer's innacuracy or just the way the entire Chaparral team was steamrolled by Bishop Gorman. They had him at DE for a few series and BG ran over him like he wasn't even there. To be fair, they pretty much ran over everyone like they weren't even there.

Still, I question whether Jake has the speed to be an elite WR at the D-1 level. Maybe he will grow into a possible DE (but, honestly, he didn't look like he had any sort of killer instinct; there was nothing that screamed out future DE to me). More likely, assuming he has good hands and can block, he could turn into a solid TE. But, I agree, I don't think he warrants an early offer.
