Jaelin Llewellyn to Michigan?

Per Matt Norlander, looks like Michigan is about to land a commitment. Dominoes starting to fall.

Some similarities but Llewellyn seems much more clearly a 2-guard vs. a PG. He did a lot of creating off the bounce at Princeton but unclear if that'll translate to the Big Ten where there are better athletes so he may end up being more limited to catch-and-shoots, attacking closeouts.

I think he's going to fill the Eli Brooks role.

It's the remix to admissions

Ivy League is what it takes to get some fuckin permission

I’m a T-Will fan and wouldn’t want him to leave, but getting a 6’6” wing who can shoot & defend wouldn’t be the worst trade off in the world. I just get leery of grabbing a bunch of low-major guys and hoping they blossom on this level. We know Shannon can compete at this level.

I like the addition.  Fits a need and provides good guard depth.

Really wanted Shannon as well but it sounds like that ship has sailed.  Whether that was due to admissions/transfer credits issues or NIL, it seems clear that Michigan will always be behind the rest of the Power 5 programs in landing non-grad transfers which is frustrating to say the least.

From what little I've read and seen Shannon's situation was admissions/transfer credits, which is sadly unsurprising at this point.  I do think the AD will put some pressure on UM admissions but this issue is sadly one that cuts across all students and isn't unique to athletes at Michigan.

Only two more days until the transfer portal is closed to play this fall so we should know something pretty soon on everyone on the roster except Houstan and Diabate. So, if nobody leaves, we must be expecting to only get one of them back.

A talented guy who will help fill a role, and hopefully UM is still looking around.

We've heard the drumbeat about admissions being an issue with transfers in football and we're seeing it with basketball as well.  I do wonder if these types of transfers becoming more common will lead to more pressure from the AD on admissions to reconsider the draconian approach they take toward transfer credits.  I know it's in vogue to talk about the academic standards of UM compared to other schools but your average Calc or Psychology classes are going to be the same across the board at most P5 schools, and it's unlikely that what a student learned one place would dramatically limit their ability to apply it elsewhere.

To add to this--and I will duck after saying it--I don't see why Michigan needs to be pickier than Illinois.  Shannon playing for the Illini will be frustrating (I say repeating myself from another thread).  This would not be the case of a marginal academic transferring credits to, say, Troy University.
