Jack Johnson first NHL player to march in Olympics
Jack Johnson of Team USA, a former Wolverine and currently a defenseman for the L.A. Kings, became the first active NHL player to march with his fellow Olympians at the opening ceremony. This article details the trouble Johnson went to in order to meet up with family and make it to the ceremony and back. Basically he spent a lot of money on a chartered plane.
"To have the opportunity to walk alongside the other Olympians from my country, and walk in the opening ceremonies is something I'll never forget. There was no way that I was going to let this opportunity slip by."

Impresses me more every time I read about him, a true Michigan Man as far as I can tell. Wish he was still around though...damn not staying and being champions

I just priced out a JMFJ Team USA jersey. $180. Wish I could justify it...

JMFJ...do you need any more justification than that?

How can you not, its a win for JMFJ and another win for America.

Speaking of JMFJ, did anything ever come of the comments the Kings owner made about Michigan hockey players?

I heard that he refused to suit up for the next game until he got an apology directly from the guy. Having trouble finding a link to it though.

**Disclaimer, since this is mentioned too. The Athletic Department did release a statement saying Manny didn't start a fight in practice, which Bacon talks about here as well
