BIG TEN CHAMPIONS!!!

Is it possible for Jim to tell Jay that he must stay in Ann Arbor and make it his life's work to come up with very nice blocked punts? Just asking for a friend.
December 5th, 2021 at 12:09 AM ^
Yeah, but they really need to work on their punt returns. burt, who cares, whooooo!!!!

Took names kicked ass

Excellent job Brad, C.J. another great punt block. Jake made ALL his extra points this year. AJ did well after one mistake fair catch too.
December 5th, 2021 at 4:56 AM ^
I don’t think it was a mistake. After three fist catches near the goal line I’m thinking that’s what he’s been coached to do.
Anyways, ALL HAIL JAYBAUGH
December 5th, 2021 at 11:32 AM ^
harbaugh tore into his ass after the fair catch at the two. good. he needs to get better and quick.
December 5th, 2021 at 2:48 PM ^
The fair catch was a potential game wrecker. That ball is 99% going into the end zone.
It’s a simple fucking concept.
December 5th, 2021 at 12:07 AM ^
Look at me
I'm the special teams school now
December 5th, 2021 at 12:08 AM ^
Jay Harbaugh is the best. That man does everything given to him the best possible way. Hats off to the ST. They Ferentzed Kirk Ferentz. That is not easy to do. Kudos!!!!!
December 5th, 2021 at 12:09 AM ^
Between the blocked punt, the 61 yard punt, and Iowa's missed field goal we should be #1 in FEI right?
December 5th, 2021 at 12:36 AM ^
I know it was already 21-3, and largely out of reach for Iowa, but the punt block broke the game open completely.
December 5th, 2021 at 12:37 AM ^
Great job, Jaybaugh. For multiple games this season special teams has been a real difference maker. That blocked punt set up a great drive with some spectacular plays.
December 5th, 2021 at 12:57 AM ^
I've decided I like the double thud sound when the other team punts. Much better that the single thud.
December 5th, 2021 at 1:03 AM ^
Announcers on every Michigan punt: "Watch out, Iowa knows how to block punts..."
Michigan: What... like this?
December 5th, 2021 at 1:17 AM ^
I've said all year ST are the greatest strength of this team. Once again, lights out.
That big punt by Robbins when we needed to get out of the hole. The magnificent punt block.
Ok, Henning fair caught a ball on the 3. At least he caught the damn ball tonight. And sheesh, Iowa's punt returner kept running the wrong way!
Solid, explosive, winning ST's all year. Well done.
Go Blue! B1G Champs!
December 5th, 2021 at 4:59 AM ^
I believe I saw on twitter that punt was worth around 1.5 points in whatever expected points metric is called
December 5th, 2021 at 1:19 AM ^
Henning inexplicably made THREE fair catches between the 3- and 8-yard line, costing us two dead drives. Seriously WTF?
December 5th, 2021 at 4:59 AM ^
If it happens three times in a row it’s almost certainly a coaching decision
December 5th, 2021 at 9:08 AM ^
A bad one...and folks shouldn't be celebrating this. Against equal talent this loses you games. this needs to be cleaned up.
December 5th, 2021 at 10:07 AM ^
Iowa had 3 guys around the punt the 7. Michigan has probably scouted Iowa enough to know that letting that hit the turf is most likely gonna result in them starting inside the 5. This was an opponent specific coaching decision and since they have been on fire for 2 weeks with everything they've done I'm gonna go ahead and defer to their decision not yours.
*I'm pretty sure it was the PSU game where Taylor pinned them inside the 3 yard line on multiple occasions. That guy is good.
December 5th, 2021 at 10:58 AM ^
I can buy this for punts between the 5 and 10, maybe. For the punt he caught at the three, sorry, no. You don’t catch that punt (just like OSU’s returner shouldn’t have caught the punt on the 3 last week). Let Iowa’s players show that they can make a play. One bad bounce and it’s a touchback. Basically, the worst thing that could happen is that you lose two more yards. The best thing that could happen is that you gain 17. You have to be 90% sure that the ball will stay out of the end zone before it makes any sense to catch that punt.
December 5th, 2021 at 2:51 PM ^
The catch at the three was going into the end zone. It’s a potential game wrecker.
December 5th, 2021 at 1:20 AM ^
Seeing Hassan Haskins stick a punt returner and Cornelius Johnson block a punt really underlined how incredible this team is.
December 5th, 2021 at 1:21 AM ^
Cornelius *Tyberius Johnson
* Not his actual middle name. He joust sounds like he should have a dignified middle name.
December 5th, 2021 at 1:49 AM ^
Jay Harbaugh is a very good coach.
Go Blue!
December 5th, 2021 at 5:18 AM ^
Outdid the special teams specialists. The long punt with the lucky roll, followed by the punt block to leave no doubt who the best team in all phases was today.
December 5th, 2021 at 6:17 AM ^
The rule for punt returners used to be "Put your heels on the 10-yard line and NEVER back up. If it goes over your head, let it go." Not sure whatever happened to that (seems to be broken all the time these days) but other than that, well done!
December 5th, 2021 at 6:01 PM ^
Punters (especially all those Aussie guys) are much better these days at kicking balls that hit the turf and die.
Seems that old 10yl rule has moved back to the 5 or 6 - but still, it makes no sense to catch a punt inside the 5, ever.
December 5th, 2021 at 8:01 AM ^
They did it again with another blocked punt. Excellent down field punt coverage. Just part of the complete team that Michigan has become this season.
GO BLUE!!
December 5th, 2021 at 8:04 AM ^
Solid. What a luxury to have such great special teams play. All 3 phases...
December 5th, 2021 at 8:29 AM ^
After hearing and reading all week about how great Iowa’s special teams were (today’s highlight, a missed FG from, what, 38 yards?), it was very satisfying to see us get the big play on special teams. I will acknowledge that their punter is pretty fucking good, but we still broke the back of their punk-ass field position strategy.
December 5th, 2021 at 8:37 AM ^
Ferentz should have just done kneel downs after the blocked punt. As testament to what it accomplished
December 5th, 2021 at 11:01 AM ^
After the blocked punt, a rather drunken Iowa fan wearing a “Punting is Winning” T-shirt stopped on his way out of the stadium to tell me, “punting is winning… unless you get it blocked!”
Poor guy. Cornelius Johnson broke his will. ?
December 5th, 2021 at 3:35 PM ^
Fair catch at the three. Other than that another incredible game.
