Interesting quote
From Coach Rod yesterday:
“We have an issue with the NCAA. That’s going to be resolved and I feel confident at the end of the summer, we’ll be through that. Can you imagine if Bo was told (by) the NCAA, you worked too hard? Maybe we worked too hard, I don’t know. But our players are totally committed.”
"Maybe we worked too hard?" Is he letting something slip there, or is it innocent enough?

If the hard work fits the NCAA definition of "voluntary" there is no issue.

That's more than innocent enough. It's coachspeak for, "We work out a lot and you should be happy with that."
Take nothing from it.

What was the context of that quote?

I don't think he meant anything by it.

if RichRod has been provided the information available at the Super-Secret Illegal Regent Meeting of Death?

What would be the proper multiplier to get from any penalties we might get to the penalties USC should get?

He asked for the multiplier, not the square root of the multiplier.

if you can't laugh at that then you have issues.

... you disregard the main point of the quote -- we'll be through it this summer -- and focus on the innocuous coach speak. I'm glad he thinks it will be over this summer.

i like how he's trying to curry favor by mentioning bo.

this was not meant to be sarcastic. i think this will placate his detractors and has no cost.

Agreed. Call out the down-in-fronts for some perspective.
Seriously, can you imagine Bo's reaction to the Freep's Jihad The Second?
Hell, Lloyd's withering stare would've melted Rosenberg & Snyder like the Ark of the Covenant did to Belloch and the creepy Nazi in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I still think as I have all along: the NCAA will find a minor violation or two. This will allow Rosenpuke to claim a "victory," but shouldn't really affect the program at all. I'm guessing the "punishment" will be some kind of "on watch" scenario.
Speaking of Rosenpuke, I'm still waiting for him to "expose"
the 14-hour practice days at MSU.

A minor violation or two is a minor violation or two more than Michigan football has ever had. That won't impact the program?
February 22nd, 2010 at 12:33 PM ^
No minor violations? Really? Are you sure you're not just screwing up the "no major violations" claim that really is true?
Anybody know a good source for looking up something like this? I wanted to look to see if this was true, but I could only find a database for major infractions.

Every program everywhere has committed some minor violations, because nobody reads the rules all the way through, and they say things like:
"Recruited athletes may not be called after 6PM on Wednesdays before the third sunday of the 11th callendar month of their senior years (excepting cases of early graduation/enrollment (college or kindergarten)), unless the coach calling is using a rotary handset and is in the presences of a university official in plaid pants and argyle socks."

which is maybe they did work too hard. I mean after all the administration, NCAA, & some outside firm are investigating that very question.
People thinking this is a "slip" are the reason why press conferences are useless nowadays because any sentence can be interpreted in any number of ways.
In closing, look at context!
