Injury updates?

Submitted by bluebrains98 on

It's been awhile since we got any information on how key player (e.g., V. Smith, Molk, etc.) injuries were progressing. Earlier indications were that everyone should be ready to go in the fall, but the last public news/fluff on injury progress seemed to be around the time of the spring game. Does anyone have any reliable updates on players' health?

From what I remember reading at the end of spring practice:

Molk is working out and running. Should be able to practice/see the field this fall.

Vince Smith is doing some light running, but not making cuts, and isn't full speed. I doubt he'll be ready to go by September. Hopefully we don't need him all year.

I know Vlads injury was over 2 years ago, but I was wondering if he is a 100%.  I'm still a little confused as to why RR burned his RS last year knowing that his knee wasn't ready.   I'm still optimistic that Vlad can become the player he was projected to be before blowing out his ACL...he was offered by some of the top schools in the country.

Watching the Spring Game he looked a little slow, but then again he was chasing after Roy Roundtree, but then again Roundtree was infamously caught from behind last year...so I don't know what to make of anything.

Still, he looked a little slow and he was wearing a big-ass knee brace, which tells me he's not 100%, but must be serviceable (it's possible he may have tweaked something during spring, as well). He's depth at a position of need, and will probably see the field. I am not stricken with terror thinking about him playing safety, so dinged up or not, I'm glad he's on the team.

Coach Rod mentioned in an interview that he'd seen Molk walk by him office and said he looked good. Smith is another story but I thought that he was on track to be ready to go this fall. I hope he is ready we could use him.

is going to have to go slow. It takes a long time to rehab from a ACL injury. I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit out until late in the season, or even have the option of red shirting this year.

I hurt my ankle yesterday.  I think it's just a mild sprain, so it should be ok come Sept. 4th.  I wouldn't worry too much.  I'll still be able to do some light workouts.
