I live in Ohio now and hate everything OSU

but Urban was right.  There is something very wrong.  Don’t claim to know where or what it is exactly, but there is no reason to produce that cluster of a product given the players and caliber of coaches for UM.

I live and work in downtown. My company has season tickets to OSU that they constantly try to give me. The owner of my company and GM are both OSU alums. I feel your pain, I was watching the Michigan game yesterday at my beer games, with a bunch of OSU fans. I feel your pain.

I'm an OSU alum (and my whole family has always lived in Ohio) but I now work in State College, which for some inane reason is called "Happy Valley." I feel your pain about loving another team in the same conference as the university or town where you work. If you guys think that fans in Columbus or Madison or any other BIG town are off the rails (except Lincoln, which is reportedly home to genuinely nice fans), try living here. This place is effin' delusional, and if you had hoped (as I did) that the Sandusky/Paterno travesty would bring a little perspective to the place, you'd be wrong. One of the school's big chants is "We are...," with the other side of the stadium/arena yelling, "Penn State!" Well, a popular local bumper sticker is "We are...because he was." I shit you not. You'll see signs everywhere saying, "We Support Penn State Football." Signs saying, "We Support Survivors of Childhood Sexual Assault"? Yeah, not so much.

What is funny is how much people here hate Ohio State and talk about our "rivalry." (I'm a therapist, and I had someone tell me that if she had known I went to OSU, she wouldn't have chosen to work with me.) There have been some epic games, but rivalry? Sorry, kids, but that's b/w OSU and Michigan. Yeah, you guys are in a tough stretch but these things always even out. (Take it from someone who lived through the Cooper years.) Sometimes I wanna pat them on the head and say, "Oh, you're so cute, thinking we hate you as much as you hate us!"

Sorry for going OT. I just understand the particular challenge of loving your alma mater and living in an opponent's town.

I lived there for at least 7 years, in the belly of the Beast (Columbus), and I know your pain brother... You can't listen to sports radio there because all they do on the 97.1 the Fan is talk crap about Michigan... I haven't lived there for several years now, but I can imagine your pain.

I've lived in Lansing and Columbus... Lansing is not as bad when MSU sucks.

Minus the OSU madness Columbus is very nice especially if you make friends with people who went to like Kentucky or Louisville for undergrad and do not give a shit about OSU. Ironically most OSU fans I met while in Columbus (who went to OSU) were not as confrontational as State grads.

I grew up in Columbus, there’s nothing worse than being a Michigan fan there since the year 2000.  They have no appreciation for the unprecedented run of success they’ve had for several decades.  The world’s most insufferable fans bar none.

You know what's worse? OSU fan's know Michigan is bad.. Like bad bad. I haven't gotten shit talked to since Army. Most OSU fans that see me in my Michigan gear talk to me like they would if they knew I had stage 4 everything cancer.

"Sorry to hear about your team. Hang in there guy!"

"Maybe they will be better next year"

"Hopefully they will find a better coach"

I want off this planet.

Are you familiar with the snowflakes threads?

Yeah we all know shit is wrong. You don't got to start a new thread about it because you feel like a big boy today.

I've lived in Ohio my whole life. There's plenty of reasons to like Ohio that I'm not going to list. The problem with ohio state is they very clearly elevate athletics over academics when the money and resources are available to be a world class University. It's been that way since I can remember and it's just sad to me.

For you Ohio residents- when OSU alumni talk trash about football, can't you talk trash about their academics? Remind them you chose a school for academics, and not for a football team.

Listen, I have lived in or been around most of the Midwest for most of my adult life and Ohio is really no different of a place to live than Michigan. Ohio is a great place to live outside of the fact that most folks there are Ohio State fans. Its like saying all of Michigan sucks because of Detroit. Or all of Ohio sucks cause of Cleveland. There are obvious areas there that suck just like anywhere else. But its a nice place to live. I just hate Ohio State. That 's what really sucks in Ohio. That university and most of its fans...

BRENT VENABLES.

He's the best defensive mind in college football today.  Seems to be the only DC in college football capable of stopping Elite modern offenses (i.e. in CFP formats).

Only 48 yrs old.  Has been the #2 man at top-5 programs (Oklahoma/Clemson) for the past 20 yrs (since he was 28 yrs old).  An excellent recruiter -- Rivals' 2016 National Recruiter of the year.

Knows how it's done at a top program.  Has enough experience to be ready 3 or 4 times over.  No black marks, violations, accusations in his history.  Could probably bring one of Clemson's co-OC's with him (Tony Elliott--the more proven offensive mind *or* Jeff Scott--the elite recruiter).

Dabo, Kirby Smart, Lincoln Riley, Ryan Day -- 4 of the coaches at top-5 programs in the country assumed their current positions with no prior HC'ing experience.

The answer is clear.  I personally think he's the next Nick Saban.
